Believing in the afterlife is one thing… proving it is another.
This year, people from around the world competed in an essay contest providing their rationale for life after death. Nearly $2 million in prize money was awarded with Las Vegas entrepreneur Robert Bigelow putting up the prize money. Jeffrey Mishlove took home half a million dollars for the winning essay.
Dr. Eben Alexander, author of “Proof of Heaven,” does not need to be convinced-he lived it. A highly trained neurosurgeon, Alexander was taught that although NDEs feel real, they are nothing more than fantasies produced by brains under extreme stress.
Then, Alexander’s own brain was attacked by a rare illness and shut down completely. Alexander spent a week in a coma. As his doctors considered stopping treatment, Alexander’s eyes popped open. He had come back. Alexander is a doctor who believes that true health can be achieved only when we realize that God and the soul are real and that death is not the end of personal existence but only a transition.
Mishlove and Alexander come together to tackle big questions such as, what is the best evidence for postmortem survival of human consciousness? How can we accommodate this evidence within a contemporary scientific and philosophical framework? Where is research on postmortem survival leading? Join the Vail Symposium for a program that will plumb the depths of belief on this consequential topic.

This is so wonderful - when I had my NDE back in the 60's I had nobody to talk to about it - people thought I was weird and delusional. Videos like this are changing the world and quite quickly I might add - so thankful to these gentlemen for what they are doing to educate our planet. People do not have to renounce the world and pilgrimage through the Himalayas or become a Sanyasin Monk like I did to find this profundity now - it is all around you (to quote Dr Joe Dispenza) now.

@mountainNetworker- I believe in what you say, that these videos on this amazing medium (internet/utube) are changing the world , when used for good such as these educational and inspirational videos. I have not had an NDE, but 15 years ago got very I’ll and at the same time, lost my husband to pancreatic cancer then a few years after that, lost my dear mother ( too long a story to go into) but it was a horrendous time in my life . My children were teenagers and still in school and I had to be strong for them whilst I was very sick and am still suffering disabilities. But one day I just happened to come across an NDE experience on utube and it just got me hooked. Incredible hope . You are blessed to have had an experience such as this. Unfortunately if have tried to talk to people in my circle (family, friends) but they are just not interested and I’ve stopped talking about it because I know that they think I am a looney. So I have to look at utube for inspiration because everyone in my world is as deep as a puddle!

I have listened to hours and hours and hours of Jeffrey Mishlove's interviews with others - all of them so interesting and informative, and professionally and thoughtfully conducted (new podcasters can learn much from him!) But I must say it is so nice to hear him for once as the speaker. He's a wonderful, knowledgeable thinker and I am so grateful for his life-long work. Eben Alexander gave a wonderful and fitting tribute at the end of this symposium that recognizes his contribution, and I am grateful to both of them for this wonderful presentation.

A Black Phoebe bird comes for my dad, it’s a way for him to still be watching over me. My father came to me in a dream giving me a replica of a garden cart we both built together. We were in a large green grass field with very tall pines all around. He had presented the tiny beautiful cart on a thick wooden pine picnic table. That was comforting to know my dad is with me.

I love to hear these kind of stories! It's like, okay now what? When people honestly believe that when you die that's it and nothing else happens. These are the people that believe the world is flat and we are the only life in all the universe. Sad 😔 There is a power in the universe that is constantly working for our good. It works for us if we recognize it and let it. Love & Light 💛

A little was mentioned by Eban about the placebo effect, spontaneous remission and prayer in healing. In 2010 I went in for my yearly eye exam and the optometrist said I had healed from all that I had been diagnosed with and he mentioned that he had never seen that before. Actually, I had used prayer for the purpose of my healing, and I felt confident that I would heal.

When he'd get mad/upset/hurt/whatever: he'd give me the silent treatment. But he never really cared about me. He used me and discarded me. Replaced me so easily. HE SHATTERED MY HEART. HE RAPED MY SOUL. The PTSD and the loneliness and the grief that he's given me... Makes it so that I can't breathe. I drowned. I suffocate. I die inside. I'm in hell with no escape. NO ESCAPE. He betrayed and abandoned me, discarded me like garbage. I'm so fucking traumatized and terrorized and terrified. He's given me severe PTSD. Severe! Severe! Severe! How and when will I ever heal? REMINDER TO SELF: When you chase a man, you NEVER get the man, and you ALWAYS lose yourself!

Content is interesting and I have also had experiences that give me reason to believe however, I find it extremely off putting that throughout the talk there are repeated references to the books (repeating name), the meditations, etc. that are available online (at a cost). This talk and many other online conversations on this topic come across as a marketing exercise. It is an important topic but in my opinion is being used as a lucrative advertising exercise and business opportunity.

The hallmark of the irredeemable imbecile is that he supposes that there is a democracy of truth. The Elsies or lower cleanses really do*suppose that the more people that suppose X to be or not to be the case is somehow relevant to whether or not X is or is not the case- They simply *cannot* understand that argumentum ad populum is a fallacy and cannot understand *why* it is a fallacy.. Hate to tell you this elsies but your televisions will not and cannot show you any programmes of you switch the*Off*- or kill them and your experiencing apparatus wil not woerk(allow you to experience anything if they are switched of or decomposed into mush. No experiencing apparatus or brains which are made of meat, no experiencing anything the simple word for not experiencing anything at all is -yes- you guessed it death, which is final and absolute and you ca no more experience the moment that you die than you can experience the moment you fall asleep, which is screamingly obvious to all but the Elsies or lower classes.

I can confirm that I have had a number of these psychic experiences which, nowhere near as dramatic as these two men, are still striking and impressive. It is a shame that the University of Virginia is a rare university - the only exception - because it does participate in studies of parapsychology. Science traditionally has not had the same sort of verifiable data concerning psychic phenomena as has material science. It is also bizarre that religion has always supported unexplained phenomena as to miracles but which would be considered bogus and heresy were it fully accepted and documented as true Science. My theory is that we as beings are non-material but we are forced by the dimensions we artificially believe we dwell in to cause us to think our world is physical.

I would say meditation is a way, only really because people may overly constrict the definition of what meditation is. For instance I experienced enlightenment, "went to" heaven right here in the midst of us"/the end of suffering/nirvana etc one excellent day at 30 yrs old in Santa Barbara CA. I stumbled into it unknowingly and realized after that I had been "meditating" most of my life....As a ski Instructor/skibum I meditated on so many lift rides, and as an outdoorsman who always felt the wilderness is home was often outside alone and was in meditative states far more than I ever realized, working in all my many fields I would enter meditative states... we called it being in the zone, and it was a way to really enjoy whatever we were doing. I would say I was "lucky" in that way to have never been sucked up into "growing up" and instead retained the wonder of the childs mind throughout my life. Not that it has all been a bed of roses, after all we came here to learn, grow, expand and to help this species evolve before they croak themselves again and this requires much "work"/effort/and yes suffering is part of the package deal. I recall prebirth volunteering/being chosen/willingly wanting to come here and then waking up as the boy who became me now. Ohm. Hopefully I wrote that clearly enough... it is important to drop the use of what I call "absolute definatives" with much of our communication... unless we are actually speaking of absolute definatives... which we rarely are for many reasons, otherwise most times when we use these conclusion type of statements they tend to close off our intended intentions to illuminate broader truths that align with the entire universe as it is all one universe kinda subliminally/habitually. Language evolves with us... slowly... but we are in a singularity now and so change, and RAPID IMMENSE change is the name of the game for this decade anyhow. Twt.

Good talk and sharing. However, to break away from as much suffering and unwanted, premature death, they must have the insight into the nature of the inner and universal consciousness (the afterworld, world of the death), not just merely near-death experiences. * And so, what is universal consciousness?

Liked the stories around the 17m mark... and the idea that humans are currently under-going a NDE as a species, but that we're not back from the brink just yet. Regarding how fast one can re-incarnate, an interesting tidbit that Sadhguru suggests : if you make it to 84 years you will not be reborn! That is, if you witness 1008 full Moons, your human energy system is not tied to the earth so strongly.. even if one had no spiritual inclination or any kind of spiritual practices! Also interesting about how miracles were revered if they were in a holy book.. versus the miracles of today don't seem to carry the same weight. Regarding how the glycoprotein laminin may be the antenna to higher dimensions.. is that because its shaped like a cross?

A near-death experience, commonly referred to as an NDE, is defined as a “personal experience associated with death”-the irreversible cessation of all biological functions critical to sustaining life; as well as “impending death,” which researchers describe as having similar characteristics. Namely, the OBE experiences of floating above the body and observing the physical environment. During an OBE, all bodily functions continue, suggesting that the brain may play a role in these experiences. In contrast, what defines clinical death is that all three functions critical to sustaining life have ceased: pulmonary, cardiac and synaptic (meaning, an EEG does not record any activity in the brain or the cerebral column). Hence, to be able to answer the big question, “is there life after death,” and find evidence of disembodied consciousness, we need to treat these two phenomena as distinctly separate. For the purpose of clarity, I propose a new term, TDE. 1. TDE, or “temporary death experience” which occurs during •clinical death•; and 2. NDE, or “near-death experience” to define •impending death•, or “brushes with death” triggered by physical or psychological trauma, eg. asphyxia, coma, shock, and similar. In this video, Dr Jeffrey Mishlove and Dr Eben Alexander speak about evidence of •postmortem• survival of human consciousness. Decades ago I spoke with Dr Mishlove in relation to a documentary I was writing about consciousness. He holds the only doctoral diploma in parapsychology to be awarded by an accredited American university, University of California, Berkeley. An incredible mind. As Dr Alexander states in his book, he was in an induced coma. During an anaesthetic induced coma, although greatly reduced, all critical functions continue, including synaptic. Meaning, coma cannot be and is not equated with death. Consequently, if the brain has not completely ceased functioning, how can the experience during a coma provide evidence of •postmortem• survival of human consciousness? To confuse things even further, recent studies have revealed that there are three stages to reaching the clinical death point, linked to to the three functions critical to sustaining life. Dr Parnia’s AWARE Project confirmed that, depending on the cause, 1) breathing stops first; 2) without resuscitation, heartbeat stops about 15 to 20 seconds later; 3) followed by clinical death some 60 to 80 seconds after that, indicated by the cessation of synaptic activity. Modern medicine advised that resuscitation after the onset of clinical death is unlikely. Although guidelines state that it is possible within the first few minutes, depending on specific factors. Could it simply be that there are different types or stages to a TDE linked to the exact state of the body where all occur during the 75-100 seconds prior to cessation of synaptic activity? Although, if that was the case, how can we explain the incredible information some TDErs receive during their experiences? For example, those of Mellen Thomas-Benedict? Or mine. Or, am I missing something?…

What you are describing is a mixture of dreaming and lying; there*Are& no " near death experiences only liars and dreamers entirely lacking in wits and learning. Those that believe what they*want* to believe are liars and frauds, or to quote dickwens" no swindler is worse than the &self swindler."* Those that fall for the " near-death" and life after death fraud ae invariable the witless lower classes and have no idea what the mean by death which is the complete and final cessation of &All* experiencing or it is not death. the credulous as retarded childrem and witless lower classes simply *cannot* understand why it is impossible to experience not experiencing anything, and are foolish to suppose that it is possible to experience not experiencing anything because they are as witless and credulous as retarded children, which is *Why* they are Elsies or the Lower Classes- LC -Elsie. Funy how there are never any dear under-general-anaesthetic experiences and -perhaps more pertinent than anything else *No dreams* while under general anaesthetic. I everything is a near death experience *Nothing* is a near death experience, but the witless Elsies simply cannot understand that- in fact it is a shibboleth or litmus test for the lower classes that are as credulous and witles as retarded children; you can no more be " nearly" dead than you can be" "nearly" pregnant or " nealy unique, because death is *Absolute* and final or what you have in mind is not death That excitable bal fellow is simply a mad liar. what re called" our-of-body" expereinces are dreams, which are true while the last but can more be said of experiencing generally or life. The funny -if not hilarious thing about the pignorant lower classes or Elsies is that they suppose they can be conscious just by the wishing but cannot grasp that you cannot wish for that of which you have no experience.
