Join us for this year's New College Black History Lecture where we host a conversation with Imam Mustafa Briggs about his new book, "Beyond Bilal: Black History in Islam."
This timely work uncovers the deep-seated relationship between Islam and Black History, from the Qur'anic period, Companions of the Prophet, and early generations of Muslim scholars to the rich history of Islam in Africa and the vital role of women's scholarship in the West African Islamic Tradition.

Yes, the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ) was indeed a black Arab man resembling Nipsey Hussel in complexion or Haile Selassie‼️ I also saw our Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ) in a dream many years ago‼️ The word Abyadh: “European or Caucasianal white” in Arabic is not what’s intended when the old Arabs talked‼️ Rather, what they meant was: Al Hintee Al-Laun meaning - “Wheatish or peanut Complexioned” with an Hilyah ( Overtone ) of Sudaa’a ( Black or brownness ), “Lightskinned” or “Mixed” because the Arabs originate from a hot region, constantly under the sun which naturally gives them a dark tinge and tanned so their complexions range from being very dark, light brown to many shades of a brown people never pink or red people‼️ So when the Arab used the word “Black” it simply meant very dark complexion and “Abyadh” it mean light-brown or Lightskin‼️

Imam Mustapha Briggs is in essence could be the Sayyidina Musa (alayhi salam) of our time if it could be. His peculiarly looking nature of presentation takes almost everyone of audience to the notion that he naturally has in his gene a trace of quality that one feels of the past but close fellows in the time of the appointed prophets pbut. A mujaddid of our time to say at least.

I admire him no doubt and may Allah bless his efforts to educate and reclaim the narrative from orientalists about Islam and black people. But to call him a mujaddid? I think you're just in awe :)

Mixing blackism with Islam is a fallacy. I think he does not know what black mean in English.
