Everything is great about this game. I still cannot understand why it was so unsuccessful at the time...

@@kef7109 Not enough coverage (that's the least we can say). Even in it's home country, France, the game was released as a budget title. Ubisoft did poor decisions. They might have thought it would make the game more attractive or compensate the lack of advertising, and maybe because the game's length was considered short at the time (boy how times have changed !), but the contrary happened. Nobody knew what the fuck it was, and suspected it must be some usual poor game because it was sold at half the usual retail price. The very month it was released, I was with my mother in a supermarket, looking for some new game while she chased the usual food and stuff, and managed to convince her to buy me the game because of how cheap it was for a brand new game. I just wanted some new game to be honest, I knew there was no way she would buy me anything expensive so I tried my best with Beyond good & evil, the cover looked nice enough. I was expecting something "meh" at the very best, if I was lucky, and was more realistically expecting a bad game because EVERY new games in this price ranges were dogshit at the time. Boy how surprised I was the game was that polished and that good. I couldn't believe it. I considered this game to be the absolute best deal I ever experienced for so many years. Years later, when everybody else was shocked by the Orange Box's price, I was still thinking : meh, does not worth the Beyond good & evil deal. This game flew under the radar because it was SO unusual at the time that a decent games could be priced half the usual. It was not advertised and priced as garbage. Many people must have just looked at it and thought it must be junk because of bad experiences in the past. The fact that it is a new IP, that the girl on the cover is handling a camera (which could make you think "oh, a budget photographer sim !") probably didn't help either. And even for the few people who cared to look at the game's description in the box's back, the competition was fierce in the action/adventure genre in the 128 bits era, and probably wasn't worth the risk for most of us.

Its soundtrack is generally great. A healthy mix of instrumental, vocals and techno with those grunts resembling the domz
