Hi bro, you found the treasure of Chinese Rock music. Love your professional comments! This concert was held after Wong Ka Kui died several years. The bass player is Ka Kui’s younger brother. That’s why he was extraordinarily emotional when singing the song written by his brother. Looking forward to seeing more reactions on Ka Kui’s performance, who is our yyds!

He, Wong Ka Keung was especially emotional as he was KaKui 's younger brother . Still traumatic for him n his fellow band members as they saw Ka kui fall n dying from his head injuries days later in the hospital . Would take some years for him to get over his brother unexpected tragic demise. Which is why he found it hard to sing that line of the song lyrics with the words " fear I will fall down" and his voice broke down at that moment. Btw pple did wonder if this line in the song was somehow prophecy or premonition by Kakui as he died in the same year he wrote n recorded the song.

The guy singing in this performance instead of the lead singer who had past away, was his younger brother,. He was also the member of the band. The lead singer Huang, was the soul of the band. He was the legend in those days. He died in an accident of falling from very high stage onto the floor in Japan, when they just started their career outside Hong Kong. Sad!

Great thanks for reviewing this song. It's a song which has great influence on a whole gerneration in China(born between 1970-1980). The singer Mr.Wong Ka Kui had not only talent on his music, but also his lyric inspire us to go forward and be strong. When I had some difficuties, this song gave me power and let me stood up. It is more than a song but like a belief for me. Again thank you very much for your professional comments, I can see your empathy and you do really understand this song.

this song is also a reflection of the band's history in pursuing music dream: they were first trying to sell their idea on music, but got very little influence, then they struggled for a while and changed their style in appealing the melody-favored audiences in EastAsia and then got huge success. As the band about to sour high, their leader Huang died at his prime in Japan. what a pitty.

The person sang the song in this video is the younger brother of the lead singer Wong Kai Kui, who had passed away. I've heard other band members sing but no one was as good as the lead singer, and no one was as talented as Kai Kui in composing songs. After his passing, none of the band's new songs really left an impression to me. I believe these are the main reasons the band could not continue to perform after Kai Kui was gone

The lyric said Forgive me this life of uninhibited love and indulgence of freedom Although I'm still afraid that one day I might fall Well he felt off the stage when he was performing in Japan R.I.P

I don’t know if this is what you’d be into, but another song with an enjoyably long guitar solo is Norwegian Forest (by Wu Bai and ChinaBlue), I personally liked the live version collab with Mayday for the sheer number of guitars involved. (Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZm8fZqmm7xql7c) Also R.I.P. to Wong Ka Kui. My mother introduced me to BEYOND when I was a teenager and they blew me away. Cantonese is a very musical language as it has more tones (well, in comparison to Mandarin I guess, which is the only other Chinese language I know 😅) and well-written lyrics will sound almost song-like even when just read aloud, as the tones of each word lines up more or less with the rise and fall of the melody, which I thought was very cool.

@@spiderhandspnz I hope I'm not disturbing you, but I'd like to share with you these interesting histories of Chinese POP music. From the perspective of pop music, Chinese music includes China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hongkong and Macao. You can understand this as greater China. Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong Province of China are pure Cantonese speaking areas, while people in other parts of China, Singapore and Taiwan usually speak Mandarin. The difference between Cantonese and Mandarin is much greater than that between American English and British English. Although Mandarin and Cantonese have almost the same grammar and characters , some vocab and pronunciation are very different. Although I can speak Mandarin, I can understand and simply speak cantonese because I like Hong Kong music. Cantonese is more suitable for singing and has more tones. Creators often need to ensure the combination of tone of the every single word and melody of the song. And miraculously, they did, so Cantonese itself sounds like singing. You can listen to Eason's songs, "十年" and "明年今日".Or “爱情转移” and “富士山下” One is the Mandarin version and the other is the Cantonese version. They have the same melody but completely different lyrics. I hope you can experience the subtle differences. In the 1980s, Hong Kong played an important role in the popular culture of Greater China because of its economic rise. Cantonese songs in the 1980s and 1990s became a necessity for almost all listeners in Greater China. Jacky Cheung, Alan Tam, Anita Mui, Andy Lau, beyond, Chen Baiqiang, Leslie Cheung, Eason Chan and Faye Wang are all singers of that era. However, around 2000, the Hong Kong music world began to decline, old singers gradually retired, or began to pay attention to the Mandarin song market. The 2000-2010 year is the golden age of Mandarin songs. The pop singers in Chinese mainland and Taiwan have created one myth after another, which has accompanied the growth of the younger generation of listeners, just like our collective memory. The representative singers of this period are: leehom Wang, Jay Chou, JJ Lin, Eason Chan, Joker Xue. Unfortunately, the current Chinese music world is declining again. Although more and more new songs are released every year, there are no good classics anymore🥲🥲🥲

@@spiderhandspnz Jacky Cheung made his debut in Hong Kong in 1984. His record sales has not been overtaken so far (Greater China). His record sales were second only to Michael Jackson in 1995, so he received an award from Bill broad. Jacky has many hits in Mandarin and Cantonese songs. In the 1990s, he was called the "God of singing" just like the “King of Pop” by the audiences in the whole greater China region. Both Mandarin and Cantonese listeners love him very much. He is also the idol of Jay Chou, JJ Lin and Eason Chan . In 1995, Eason Chan made his debut in Hong Kong. Until 2000, Eason Chan gradually gained recognition and was praised by the media as "the successor of the God of singing". To this day, Eason Chan is regarded by the media as the last king of Hong Kong's music world, but it is a pity that he has not reach the legend of Jacky Cheung. Also in 2000, Jay Chou made his debut in Taiwan. His legend doesn’t need more explanation. He is like a storm sweeping the whole greater China and inspiring us today.

Thank you for coming to visit! The difficulties are why I have set up a Bilibili channel, which now appears to be doing okay. I have added your recommendation to the review list - cheers for that, and have a good day!

The volume of this song is too low, and the listening experience is not so good. By the way, I like your cooperation with “不是柯桑德”, with your comments, his translations and exaggerated expressions. really good.

Hi Pengfei Luo - I am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the listening experience! This whole "video review" thing is something that I'm still improving on. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed those collaborations! Unfortunately, there won't be any more videos like that, as we've decided to go our separate ways. If videos like this one aren't to your tastes - I respect your opinions and views. either way - thanks for visiting the channel, and have a good day.
