I have an unknown panicle in my yard that I planted about 12 years ago. I am pretty sure it had strawberry in the name but it’s only about 4 feet tall so it’s not vanilla strawberry. After seeing your strawberry sundae, I don’t think that’s it either. In fact, it looks the most like the one in your video you think is mislabeled! It has open and airy blooms, sort of like a little quick fire, but the blooms are more long and narrow. It doesn’t really matter, but I do admit there are times it drives me a little bit crazy not being able to figure it out! 😂 Thanks so much for this video!

Pinky Winky and Candelabra look similar, but there are loads more hydrangeas out there than what I covered. Looks like you might have a happy mystery on your hands 🙂

This is my first year with Berry White and I am super impressed with it. In my zone 7B southern TN area, we don’t get a lot of the pink color on panicles because our nights don’t cool down enough. However, the berry white turned a beautiful pink this year. It’s a keeper!

This video was much needed. Can u do one for mop heads? I’m looking for comparisons on the earliest blooming hydrangeas
@UpNorthGardenMI4 ай бұрын
I’m guessing you mean macrophylla (mophead is also used to describe the non-lace cap panicles). Those kind don’t winter over for us up here very well, so I wouldn’t be able to offer a good sampling. The Southerner’s Northern Gardener ( youtube.com/@TheSouthernersNorthernGarden ) just started a big comparison - I'd suggest checking him out starting with kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIPIlapumsiMgbssi=QlS9h_cn7xLV2DB7

This was a great video Corey. Customers get so confused as well as us growers to all the new additions every year. Have you tried macrophylla Wedding Gown? starts off white and turns crimson red in the fall. Revivals all the panicles in intense fall color. I do the Moonrock hydrangea but you're right it's not as well know but should be.

It’s a little bigger, but the Quick Fire Fab is stunning. Little Quick Fire would fit the bill. My dream is that they come out with a Bobo that gets more pink color, because that one is an amazing smaller-scale paniculata.

Question, I noticed that Little Lime Punch can get 5 ft tall. I didn’t realize that! Is it possible that in zone 3 it will stay in the 3 ft range? Does fall pruning control size? Zone 3 Manitoba 🇨🇦👏🌸
@UpNorthGardenMI4 ай бұрын
We find that in our area, most panicles don’t reach their maximum height, so there’s a good chance that it’ll stay smaller in zone 3 🤞

How long have you had your Vanilla Strawberry? I haven’t had issues with stems being weak once they’re established. Is it in full sun? Otherwise, you could look at Quick Fire Fab or Limelight Prime- but if there’s a different issue affecting a Vanilla Strawberry (like problems with sun, pruning, or fertilizer), the same problems may exist with another variety. This video might help with your Vanilla Strawberry (even though it’s put out by Proven Winners) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rX7GZ5lrhtOmeqssi=McqidA7Y0YWQ2RaV

HELP! I bought some Let's Dance Can Do hydrangeas for around my deck earlier this spring. I'm new to landscaping and flower beds and watered from above (didn't know I wasn't supposed to get leaves and blooms wet). Now I have lots of spots on leaves and blooms from overhead watering. Can this fungus be fixed for next season or will all these plants need to be replaced?
@UpNorthGardenMI4 ай бұрын
If they’re just spots from hard water, they’ll be fine, and you don’t need to do anything except change your watering technique. If it’s powdery mildew, you can use a spray, but you need to make sure you identify what it is before you take action. Snap some photos and visit your local garden center.

The Firelight is perfect, but my garden only gets part sun. Do you think it would be happy? Zone 6/part sun condition
@UpNorthGardenMI4 ай бұрын
It’ll grow best with six hours of sun. But if it’s getting at last four hours of sun (especially mid-afternoon), it should do fine. My mom has one in an area that gets about four hours and it’s doing very well… that location gets a good bit of indirect light when it’s not in the sun (so not deep shade).
