Hi Heidi, good to see what's up-n-coming! Was wondering if the new Butterfly bush is a purple variety ?
@gardencrossings2 ай бұрын
Yes, it is a light purple.

I have a Revolution Everlasting big leaf Hydrangea that bloomed beautifully around mother’s day in the pot”It’s continued to put new buds after I cut the old bloom off 🎉. I’m in zone 5 and it’s still in the pot. Should I bring it into the attached garage (50 degrees)for the cold winter, or in the house for the winter. I don’t want it to loose all the new buds! I’ve never had this variety before. But would love for it to bloom outside this spring. Id put it in the ground then. I love your PW blog and have learned so much from you. Loved the new for 2025 plants too. Thanks so much!

I would not recommend bringing it the house. If you have a protected area in the garage that may be a better idea.

Awesome video! Now I’m not afraid to do some hard pruning !
@gardencrossings2 ай бұрын
No need to be afraid to trim. The biggest thing you could do is trim at the wrong time and not get flowers, but as for the plant, it will not hurt it.

Thankyou for this instructive video on trimming shrubs. I have a few mature shubs in the garden that will be getting a good prune this autumn, for sure. Also- the end of the video ended kind of abruptly with a few minutes of blank screen- not sure if that was intended?

I did not know that. I will have my editor know. thx!

Hi Heidi! Thank you so much for all this information. We have a new (this summer) panicle hydrangea and I know that it blooms in new wood. Should I give it a trim this fall so the deer don’t become interested in it over the winter? We had it caged this summer because it was being nibbled by them. Thank you for a reply.
@gardencrossings2 ай бұрын
I personally trim mine in the fall.

Heidi- Thanks for the great video. Two questions- 1.) Will Storm Proof be available for purchase January 1, 2025? 2.) I am in zone 8b. Can it handle partial shade? I currently have Limelights that are floppy and I plan to replace them with these beauties. Thanks!
@gardencrossings2 ай бұрын
Yes we will have it available Jan 1 2025. It can handle some shade especially in zone 8

love the trimming info! I am in zone 7B and have some of the proven winner oso roses that I was unable to get planted this summer because the ground was too hard and dry. We now have gotten a lot of rain and the ground is softer. The plants got stragly in there pots. Should I trim them now when I plant or wait or wait until spring
@gardencrossings2 ай бұрын
I recommend trimming them now.

When can I trim back my summerific hibiscus? I live in northern Indiana?
@gardencrossings2 ай бұрын
Thanks for subbing. I trim mine in the fall here in MI. But many will tell you to wait until spring. I would trim when it works best for you

Hi Heidi on one of your previous video's you showed a chrysalis butterfly bush which is not a proven winners plant, i was wondering if you were going to carry these and if not where did you get it from thanks in advance
@gardencrossings2 ай бұрын
YES! We will be carrying 2 of the colors next spring. A magenta one and a steel blue one. We will have them online for pre order in December or January

From the information I have it will get 3-6' tall. I have seen them in the trial garden and they were 2.5" tall. I have not seen a mature specimen yet.

Always excited to see new Proven Winners plants for the upcoming year, but always disappointed there are NEVER plants for zone 9 or above. I realize Proven Winners are headquartered in Michigan but I would think someone would have figured out how to breed for better heat tolerance since I think we can all agree climate change is here now! The US summers are getting hotter all across the country. Thanks for the tour. Always love looking, just won’t be buying.

They have been adding a bunch of shrubs that are for the 'south' or warmer climates. And of course all the 'annuals' can grow by you. It is the perennials that sometimes need the cooler winters to come back. Here is a link to zone 9 shrubs, there are quite a few: www.gardencrossings.com/product-category/shrubs/?_usda_hardiness_zone=9 And zone 9 perennials: www.gardencrossings.com/product-category/perennials/?_usda_hardiness_zone=9

@@gardencrossings Thank you. I made the mistake of ordering Limelight, Limelight Prime and several other Proven Winners panicle hydrangeas after seeing Laura from Garden Answer planting them. We don’t have as many days of temps above 100 as Laura does, so although they were zoned for zone 8, I thought I’d be ok. But my hydrangeas never do well. Always get crispy.
