These are always excellent. But I am happy to see some real deviants talk about something that really matters! And as an aside to this. Getting less and less enthusiastic about total war. The mention about the reception to the Sage:Pharaoh can be seen in that context a lot. I think there is something to be said how the ancient word is seen or where the center of gravity is on the interest. A lot of it is just on the community being disillusioned by stuff that has been going on at CA, the other games, DLC, and the saga titles pretty much not having a good rep. Not sure how true this still is and this might be anecdotal. I felt there was just an element of putting on the blinders and sitting in your own box in academia. There was always some grumbling that people didn't care or didn't know, but also very little enthusiasm or effort to actual bridge the gap to include the public or make it a broader discussion. Or an insistence to communicate in term that would excludes people because it is so steeped in concepts and Jargon.
