I'm thinking of doing a night walk along Kuhio as well, will shoot for a Friday or Saturday night to catch all the different "flavors". Kalākaua is next for sure.

Greetings from Brisbane, Australia....and thank you for a lovely tour of Kuhio Ave. That was 'my street' whenever I visited and stayed Honolulu in the past, and I loved seeing the old familiar sights, as well as the newer stuff on the avenue.

Great tour of Kuhio Ave, will be in Waikiki in November, staying at the Outrigger, looking forward to strolling Kuhio and Kalakaua, thanks for sharing

GREAT REVIEW WONDERFULLY RELAXED AND INFORMATIVE NARRATIVE - This kupuna once delivered the old Star-Bulletin daily newspaper in languid, "less-buildings" Waikiki of the early 1950s and I knew every inch of Kuhio, Mahalo for the memories - Lui

Hey Brandon... ANOTHER Excellent Video..I have heard Though that Kuhio Ave is SKECTHY especiallly at Night.. Crime, etc.. Thoughts?
@suitesandlobbies Жыл бұрын
It used to be really sketchy back in the 70-80s with drugs and prostitution but it has changed quite a bit. It is a bit more "rugged" then Kalakau and like all major tourists areas we have crime and such. The area around International Marketplace is changing for the better for sure. Hotels like the Laylow nearby, the new Waikiki Food Court, Ritz-Carlton, and others are lending towards busier evenings and as such more eyeballs on whats going on. There used to be several nightclubs along this strip, which I miss, but now I think there are only 1 or two. The side roads between Ala Waiki-Kuhio-Kalakaua are hit or miss depending on what is located on each street. Lewers and Seaside have changed big time from a few decades ago but still have a couple of blocks that are iffy. I think I need to do a night time video :)

My sister and I absolutely loved this video. You are the best at narrating videos and giving a mix of insight and education. We really enjoy your laid back easy style of talking and shooting. You’re really the best💕🇨🇦

Not yet, it’s on the list. It’s about a block and a half from the beach. Between Kuhio and Ala Wai

What was the noise level as you were passing through the elementary school?
@suitesandlobbies Жыл бұрын
The elementary school on the left towards the end of the walk is in the quietest area of Kuhio. Street noise but no bars, street performers, or large crowds.

With all the ABC stores every few steps in Hawaii, I figured there would be hundreds of them. I was shocked when I found out there's less than 80 ABC stores worldwide😳

It is quite unique to Hawai'i, many don't know they are locally owned and operated. I always get a friendly greeting when I go into one.
