It is here I kneel before the gods of my time, neck bowed in complete submission, waiting to receive whatever sentence they bestow upon me for my crimes. I bite my lip, determined not to give them the satisfaction they so crave. Is this it? Is this our purpose? We exist only to be toyed with, made fools by that which makes us human? Those who loved me in life avert their eyes as the rest hungrily feast upon the scene before them. My neck stiffens as a chill runs through the room. A booming voice shakes the walls around us, declaring me guilty of a crime I would never commit, yet I remain steadfast in my refusal of their theatrics. They would have me throw myself to the floor, weeping for mercy, crying for anything other than the icy death that is to come. No. They shall not receive their performance. I will not give them that victory. They shall taste my defiance, for if I am to die, then I am invincible.
