I'm lucky enough to be friends with a woman who is still alive today who worked at a boeing factory during World War II. She always said that she did enjoy her job, but cooking was always her forte. About half a year after the war ended, she would come up with the famous Perkins pancake recipe that her nephews who founded the Perkins restaurant would use. Currently, she is still alive and owns all rights to the recipe. Though she isn't actually my grandma, we nickname her "Grandma Mitsey" because she has small hands. Chasity Perkins, we all love you so much, and hope that you keep on living. 103 years is a long time, but I know that there's still more in you. You did an amazing job during war times and you do an amazing job enspiring us younger generations, both men like myself and women like my sister. I'm glad I got to become your friend Grandma Mitsey. thanks.

During WW2 my mother was a teletype operator at The Netherland Hilton located in Cincinnati, Ohio sending notices to families about their loved ones in the war. That is where she met my father who had been a Master Sergeant a marksmen sharpshooter bugler and an office worker in Florida caring for the men who had just come back from that dreaded war.

We’re still waiting for another hidden figures style of film for history good history. To be honest I would like it to be in a broad global scope so it has to be either a docu-drama or an anthology series, both of which gives opportunities of exploring interesting details that one film may need to neglect in order to fit it under 2 hours.

Well, in the Third Reich there were actual women who fought in combat, both in the front with guns (extremely few) and in the aerial war. Hanna Reitsch is the most famous one, as she also tested the aircraft and was the first woman (and person) to ride the prototype of an helicopter, she also had a first class iron cross.

@Horatio Nelson That is true, however what does this have to do with about the comment, it was about how the germans in ww and to some extent in ww2 did not use female workers as much as other countries and as such they were according to the experts at a disadvantage. And while they did produce a lot of armaments in the later stages of the wars, these were due to the sittuation actually more defects than not.
@bokvarv1926
@bokvarv1926 4 жыл бұрын
@Horatio Nelson in ww1 this was a significant factor. as to ww2 and germany this was still a factor, though in ww2 less important by itself. And yes they used slave labor, however becuse this was slave labor, most of this was for contruction while until around 44/45 most munitions was actually produced by paid workers. in 44/45 this changed and the need for prisoners to manufacture this came to light. however we do see that the quality of this munition was at best ...."meh"

There are actually people trying to put the spin that American and Commonwealth women fought alongside men just because they were given military training, but fail to even acknowledge their actual roles and how many actually died in combat. At best they were medics right outside the front line or were agents performing espoinage behind enemy lines.

With a due respect to women, they sure did help and did their part but there was men here in the factories too. Boys to young to enlist or men that are to old to fight..WW2 cost millions of lives but the bright lining is civil rights and women rights went a long ways because of the time women put in back home and black troops helping white troops brought race relations a long ways. Before ww2 women having jobs was looked down on because women were just granted power in 1920. Before they couldn't buy land,go to school or anything
