Weird question for you guys, what do you prefer even though they are not perfectly comparable experiences? Scythe or BtS? You only have time for either game. Your choice of player count.
@patrickleither18004 жыл бұрын
Really like this game. Have gotten a couple plays in at 3 players. The tactical and strategic planning are in good balance. The different colors have groupings of actions so you can plan for a strategy but can have those plans change based on what actually comes out. I am excited for an expansion for more tech, system, achievement, and event cards. Also, a solo mode.
@BeforeYouPlay4 жыл бұрын
@@Shoitaan Hi! That's a tough one for us because of how different they are and also because of how well we already know Scythe. To answer your question, probably Scythe, but that is mainly because it is easily one of our favorite games of all time (both of us). If we had to play 2 or 3 player though, definitely BtS because it plays very well at 2 and Scythe does not.

@@Shoitaan It's funny, watching this an I immediately thought of Scythe even though they look like apples and oranges. I'm also selling my copy of Scythe because it never clicked with me. This seems right up my alley though while still giving me Scythe vibes. I don't know why, but it really does.

This game looks great! I'm seeing a trend this year in games that I'm most interested in. The Lost Ruins of Arnak, Whistle Mountain and now this. You're basically crafting the spots for your "worker" to land. While BtS is more action selection it gives me a worker placement vibe. Really keen on this one. It does look like dullsville though, which is a big letdown.

This game looks pretty cool, and a fantastic rules teach and playthrough as always! Just wanted to point out a rules mistake (at least I think it was based on your rules explanation - I've not played this game before). At 50:50 when Naveen was colonising the left planet B, the pop cube he spent to colonise should go to column E instead of A because that's the rightmost column with an empty spot?
@BeforeYouPlay4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we made an edit in the description of the video. The rule is to always replace cubes in the furthest right column available first. We both made that mistake (accidentally) which somewhat evened it out lol.

The (at end of turn) text in the achievement cards. Does it mean at the end of the turn of the player claiming the achievement or the end of the turn is after all player ahve played their turn for that round ? An example for this confusion. PLayer 1 is first player, just claimed control over two planets this turn that allows him to put two food production disks. At the same time triggering for him the Achievement to have an entire row of production's disk emptied. Can that player claim the achievement or do we need to wait for player's 2 turn to end ? BEcause if so, player 2 can come contest the claim on the planets and put the food production disk to player 1's mat. Which would mean the achievement would no longer be compelted (At end of turn)
@BeforeYouPlay3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, thanks for asking. The player would finish their turn and then claim the achievement card. It would happen at the conclusion of the active player's turn. Let us know if there any other questions we can try and help answer!

This was amazing! I love this game! I mean, a space exploration theme, a tech tree inspired by the Civilization video games (which I have been playing since the first one) and a lot of replayability - what's not to like? I am definitely getting this one, and I've just spotted as it available for pre-order in my FLGS. It does look like a huge game, but oh well, I will manage somehow :) A quick question - do the starting technologies vary? I mean, there is a lot of replayability already, but even more won't hurt. I also loved the theme and how the mechanics match the technologies, in a very similar way like Terraforming Mars. I'd say it shows that the designer has a physics degree. Unlocking the additional production spots was also nice, as well as the automation track. I also think it will be more interesting with more than 2 players, and I hope we will all have the opportunity to test that in a couple of months :) I reckon that the colonisation race will be more intense with more players, as you get only one more colonisation spot for 3 and 4 players (though you do get two more shipyards). And yes, the game is long, but I was never bored while watching this, which I believe is telling a lot. Besides, turns do not take too long to do, even though you have a lot of choice, especially later in the game. All in all, it is a must-buy for me. I realise the game might not appeal to everyone, but I am in love with it, so thanks a million for presenting it!
@BeforeYouPlay4 жыл бұрын
Yeah you nailed it! There's so much to love about this game, it never felt stale and we always felt like we were truly working towards our goals. The starting level 1 technologies are the only ones in the game, but the level 2-3 each have roughly 20 each and I believe the level 4 has somewhere between 8-10 different ones. There are advanced asymmetric player boards as well. We are excited to eventually play with those boards and also play 3+ players in the future. Thanks for checking out the video, I hope you will enjoy your plays as well!

I love this game, the lenght is no issue for me, heck I play arkham horror and 1 game can go from 3 to 5 hours depending on what happens. It's a very big board and it's good if you all at the same side of the board so you all have a good vision. We have a big table so we can sit with 3 next to each other but even then we ar standing up for a better overview or walking around the view the exploration board better. It's a flaw but one that is neglectable, because the game itself is so fun a'd engaging. The replayvalue is amazingly high, played it 3 times now and the tech board looked completly different. You can go very deep in tactics and the more people you play it with the harder it gets, cause the chances are bigger that anothzr p'ayer takes the action you want. It's an amazing game
