Actually. I worked it out. The map type you get is based on the system you are in. If the first time you get a secure frequency map. Then that vendor will always give a secure frequency map. If you get an ancient building map, then that is the only map type you will get. So just keep jumping systems till you find one that gives you what you want.

You can find different locations if you use the galaxy maps on a planet instead of on a space station, the locations will be specific to that planet or nearby.

@@sepslee9415 No I m sorry there s nothing, it s really sad. Fuel your hyperdrive and get a thousand nanites. Then go from system to system and buy for 15 nanites a map to the cartographer until you get the right one, then build a base on this system so you can go back (that was my mistakes, I had to search for the guy again) I used nanites because reloading takes so much time. I d rather spend the money and keep searching. You ll find one it s just a matter of time

the type of chart you get is not random. I'm not sure how to find the right charts as I have not had enough time to test things, but no matter how many times you talk to the cartographer in a given system, no matter how far apart or how many times I reload the save, it still gives the same type of chart. Also, it does not have to be the only type of map you have, if the system gives secure maps then it will always give them.

It took a few jumps to different stations, found "ancient artifact site" and "distress signal" maps, and finally a "secure site of interest" one! This happened to be a Vy'keen system with a Scientific // Promising economy, not sure if that matters. Thanks again! :D

You can find navigational data around space stations. Hold down the interact button on any yellow octahedrons or blue cubes that you find lying around for free navigational data, and sometimes nanites.

They don’t give you the same as what you already have. Instead, each station gives you a certain type of map. So a station that gives you secure site maps will always give you secure site maps, regardless of what you have in your inventory. If you don’t get a secure site map from one station, try at another until you find one, then you can keep coming back there to get them.

I found out🤔you can get double the exosuit slots, If you jump to different galaxies and call the nexus. One from space station and other from the Nexus. It's a new Nexus every jump, multitool also. No S class yet

I'm not sure what's going on, but in the 10 or so I've found today none have opened up the tech tree. They've done mostly nothing or given me nanites when I know I still have things to learn. The tech tree was opening up a few days ago, but now it's nowhere to be seen.

Only certain envoys have the correct type. If the envoy on your current station gives you the wrong type go to another station. Don't keep wasting navigation data or nanites thinking that you'll eventually get the secure data site type. The envoys ALWAYS give the same type at each station.

@@JasonPlaysNMS yes, I went to two stations and gave 10 nav tokens at each one and got the same (non-secure) type each time. I knew that out of the 30 or so systems I've visited one of them gave me a manufacturing site so I just kept jumping from system to system until I found him again. When I did I turned in ~40 tokens and every single one was for a secure site. Also, note that a depot is considered a secure site so there's no guarantee each one will be a manufacturing or operations center.

@@JasonPlaysNMS based on what I just experienced it appears that there are agents who ALWAYS give one type of map and some agents will give a random map each time so it must have been the latter that you found. Just now I was turning in navigation data and wasn't thinking and turned them in at the station I was at. After about 4 turn in's I realized what I was doing. I checked my inventory and had 4 different types in there from the one agent. I then jumped back to the system where I had always gotten secure site maps and was again rewarded each time with the secure site type (I purchased 10 in a row).

If you give them a stack of 10 navigation data they'll give you random site types. If you go back to turning them in one at a time you will still get the one single type they usually give. I don't know if this applies to stacks of 5 or not. So, bottom line, find an agent that ONLY gives the secure type, save the system name, always go back to him and only get site maps one at a time.

Hey man just letting you know, it's not RNG what location type each cartographer sells. Each one sells only one type, so for example the cartographer in my system only gives me ancient artifact site maps. So you don't need to always keep one in your inventory to get the same.

Shoot the doors and sentinels from orbit as you drop in then park in front of the door . Enter base and if sentinels respawn before to get to the door they will follow you in but they will not attack.

After today, my theory is the type of map given depends on the system and any randomness is a statistically oddity or a bug. Maps in my inventory didn’t appear to have effect on the maps I got. Traveling between systems I could go back to a system I had been to before and get the same map that system gave before even if I had a different map in my inventory. I have a couple of systems marked that I am going to recheck tomorrow if the type of map a system gives might reset periodically. Any RNG that didn’t support this line of thinking was in the .1 out of 10 type rarity. Ancient POI map systems seem to be way more common than others.

Very helpful video. Unfortunately hello games has changed how to get planetary charts. You can turn in navigational data and get commercial data charts. Or you can turn in 15 minutes and hopefully get the chart you want. Each NPC will only offer one type of chart. Since it is random you may have to jump through a few systems before you find the one you want.

The process has changed a lot in the last month. You get to pick 2 blueprints now, not 1. Also, you get a random map now, regardless of the cartographer you use. And they will take 1, 5, or 10 planetary data at a time now. Not just 1.

Kinda the same thing he is doing here. Instead of manufacturing facilities you need the maps to find observatories. The observatory isn't going to give you a crashed ship/distress signal every time (could be a 'minor settlement', etc.) so you may have to do several observatories before finding a crashed ship.

This is not completely accurate... each map provides a random location. A manufacturing facility type or a storage. But it won’t give you another one until you’ve visited the previous one. So, get a bunch of maps. Go down to a planet, use a map, visit the location, then use another map. If you get one you already visited, fly up to space and land again somewhere a few clicks away, then repeat.

But if you have one type already discovered and the next one you use gives you another of the same type it will instead say “nothing found,” which will waste the map. So I managed to get the right maps. I tried using 5 and all 5 pointed me to a manufacturing facility. Though every time I solved the puzzle, it only gave me nanites, units as and blueprints for exosuite and multi tool. Never gave me an option to learn new recipes. I'm I doing anything wrong?

Dunno if anyone else is having this issue but im having alot of issues trying to land at areas that are marjed green so u dont have to use fuel but even when its marked green i spam the land button and nothing happens sometimes

Can you make a video how to keep your personal portal from your home base on I fill it with fuel but only last 1 min how can I keep it on all the time?

Use a floor switch to save energy. So whenever you stand on the floor switch, the portal activates.

Also invest in batteries and solar panels. Biofuel generator takes quite a lot of resource just to power it up

To find graves just ask travellers at stations "where they came from"

@@aceshelman Yes. I'm buying with the 5-at-a-time option for Nav Data + 1 for 15 Nanites and luck. Doesn't seem to make any difference by system - I get what seems to be a random selection each time, and so far there have always been at least two (but more often three) secure site maps, though the odds with those seem to be weighted slightly in favor of Resource Depots. I'm not complaining. No rush here - I'll get all the blueprints in good time, and I'm having fun doing it.

Thwnks for the video i was going nuts this weekend using the signal booster 10000x times cost me a whole day to find 1 facility. Didnt get it why the signal booster could not use any nav data anymore... some things should just not change without notifying players that actually have no time to keep track of all the media news and just want to play the game.. also are you guys experiencing more bugs after the update? I could not use my storage rooms in my freighter the floor was deleted. And my trading machine is half stuck in the floor..(luckely still trades though)
