I remember a TV show or something that tested one long time ago, they even bbqed the watch, the plastic melted and the display cut out as long as it was on the BBQ, but as soon as it was removed it worked flawlessly. Impressive watches! Had one of those with 10 year battery and it did hold out for at least 8 years which is impressive as I used the backlight quite a lot. The only thing bad was the backlight button as it was just a thin bit of metal which broke of. I took it apart but didn't get the gasket on as it was supposed to go on so it wasn't water proof any more. Showered and had it under water, could see water droplets inside but still worked even with the water inside it. But it got condensation on the inside of the glass easily so a bought a new watch of the same watch again 👍

This is why I wear a Casio G-shock digital watch in my job as bushcraft, outdoor, survival instructor. Not just because the promised depth is no problem (I never go that deep) but also the shock proof. When I jump of a cliff and the watch hits the water it will withstand this sudden impact. Great testing on the watches.

My guess is that if you would have gone back to surface from that 500-700 meters it would have come back to life. Because you know how if you push on an LCD with your finger it will go blank. So I think the glass pressed on the screen and made it go weird, but it might have been okay if you came back.

@@donniev8181 They are the most reliable and robust affordable watches in existence and have been for decades... they are also more well known than Rolex... They earned their name decades ago and kept it. This test literately has ZERO practical use... as the watch can withstand more pressure than any human, even in a reinforced diving suit... So unless you drop the watch in the Mariana trench and plan to magically defy physics and get it... this video is just for fun (unless it breaks at human diver depths... which i don't need to see the video to know it will survive). They can survive hammer hits, being run over, repeatedly smashed on a brick wall... and this is just my personnel experience.

Crazy durable, crazy long-lasting, absolutely worth it if you actually need a watch that will never fail you, no questions asked. I’d take it into combat if I had to. to check the capability,a 20 bar watch should be kept at 20 bar pressure for atleast 30mins to check the company claim.coz you just dont go into see and come out within 2,3 mins.you obviously stay there for some time,so watch should stay water proof for that amount of time.

I think that 3D printed stuff with different infill percentage might behave funny in this chamber. It would be a pretty good video theme.

I had a thought. You could take a screenshot from a frame from a video showing the pressure meter up in the corner, and then print it out, put some double sided tape on the back of the bit with the pressure gauge window, then cut out a small circle and a strip from parts without numbers, and then put these on the actual pressure gauge window (or perhaps an extra transparent piece in front of it to make it more temporary) to cover the point and unit, to show the depth in meters.

Or just mentally move the decimal point in the number on the display one place to the right to get the depth in meters.

Now that we’ve seen what a bone stock 7900 is capable of, I’m curious as to how much farther it can be pushed if the watch case is filled with oil.

For someone who is disappointed with the G shock result. Plz, no worries. The watch is gonna survive even though the owner is likely dead by the water pressure.. If you are not a "super" professional diver or sth, The watch is gonna be totally fine

On top of the Vostok (which I know is coming and incidently I am wearing an example of) I'd like to see the Casio F91, its only rated to 30m but is notorious for far exceeding this so it would be intresting to see how far one will really go.

Would salt water be different in anyway? Just curious.
@kanada2525
@kanada2525 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it would. Divers usually put their watches in a glass of clean water overnight after a saltwater dive to desolve the salt buily up by buttons and such, is what I was told after diving on holiday by the instructor. It was a casio g shock mtg 930du. It is pushing 9 years and I never take it off! 2 years ago id did get but foggy after a hot summer day I was after exercise, I had a swim in the local stream wixh was pretty cold. That must of done it. Next year I am planning to buy the " new" all metal g shock.

ρ g h. Desity times by gravity and depth. Salt and tap water have different densities. If youre diving irl, it would make a different. A dive at 200m will results different pressure reading between a salt water vs tap water.
