I think an overlooked tame is the Sarco, it's probably the single best early mid game tame for water until you can ride a bary and can even compete afterwards with it's sheer speed and death roll damage

Yeah it definitely makes the Spino much more viable, but Megatherium's kill the Brood so quick and Theri's are still stronger for boss fights and offer so much utility, I did want to add the Spino so bad but mainly as a travel mount but then the Baryonyx beats it for that too :(

I know the pyro is behind a pay wall, but it is a monster. It’s essentially immortal, a shoulder pet, protects you from all heat and cold, and hits like a truck. Plus as a shoulder pet, it’s a flame thrower. AND it’s the best cave runner out imo.

All time favorite tame is the Basi. As soon as my group I played with started talking about starting underwater exploration id immediately tame a decent megalodon and start scouting for 140+ Basis (you will need something to take out all the rays that congregate around these) they helped when you had a few of them stored in the pens for passive oil making. By no means the fastest in the ocean but never lost a Basi to an alpha Meg/Mosa. The health stat gains on these was ridiculous in ASE from what I remember not sure if that's the case in ASA as I haven't played ASA in depth. Still, I think you would be pleasantly pleased with picking up a few Basis for your water pen. They are a bit big so you would need a pretty decent sized pen if you plan to use them to make oil. Or just cryo them. Either way...wonderful underrated tame IMO

Basi is my favourite underwater tame btw, usually have a few chilling in my base if I am built near water. They're not quite as beneficial on this map in my opinion, large ocean so the Tuso has the speed and weight for quick hoarding and will handle everything very easy...also there's no difficult underwater caves on The Center (which is one of the best things about the Basi for the Island map) due to it being completely immune to jellyfish, eels and Tuso grapple attacks...tbh the Center is the only map where I think the Tuso is better. Basilosaurus made my Top 10 video for the Island by the way, i'd always ride the Basi and take a pack of Megalodon to clear the underwater caves! Also i'm not sure if you've tried it yet but the Baryonyx is so good for taming a Basi, great swimmer, can wield weapons while riding and can stun and easily kill the Manta following the Basi allowing for a very easy tame!

@@BEYPlaysGames haven't tried the Bary for Basi taming tbh. I will try it next time though. I never really liked the Island maps underwater area. I like the Tuso also but the prep work it takes for it to make it easy is a pain sometimes. Especially when we didn't have a lot of time to all play together except on weekends. Finding a decent one was a bit of a pain as well but we did get a 125 one time and it was a blast for the short time we had it.

Me too :D I always prefer the Theri due to the Veggie Cake healing option but yeah I initially had the Rex on the list, much easier to find and tame than the Theri and i'd be more than happy with either for the boss fight. But i did switch out the Rex for the Dunkleo instead cause that metal in the ocean was waaaay too good not to mention XD

PVE single player here. If I could only have one tame, it would be the argentavis. And what's better than an argy? A squadron of four argies. Fly on a weight/stamina argy with three health/melee argies in a tame ordering group on follow for support. I'd give honourable mention to the moschops. Good early game gatherer of fiber, berries and chitin from trilobites etc... if lucky enough to find a low-level one that's just wanting tintoberries and not giant bee honey. Plus, it is potentially an early start to saving eggs for superior kibble latter on.

Haha oh yeah, me too! The Argy is ridiculously good, whenever I start a new playthrough the Argy is always the creature i look forward to taming the most :D Moschops is great too!

I'd genuinly argue that the Xiphactinus should have been on the list over the Shasta or Tuso. They're insanely fast and insanely strong. Their blood frenzy buff gives them enough health regen to tank an alpha megalodon, and their lunch inflicts the Deinonychus' gashed attack for %-based damage over time, and they have a pack boost, giving them exponential strength in numbers. Sure, they're vulnerable to jellyfish and eels unlike Basilos or tusos. But between Jellyfish being surprisingly rare in ASA and CC effects having a hard cooldown anyways, I don't think that's much of a tradeoff anymore. Especially when the tradeoff is a pack of Xiphs being able too tear anything in the ocean a new blowhole before you can even figure out how to pronounce it's name. And to top it all off. They're also... astonishingly easy to tame on ASA. They spawn very close to the shore in the archipelago around the Blue Obilisk. It's not super hard to set up a basic trap for them on the shore, at which point you can freely KO them with tranq arrows. They can very much be your first aquatic tame despite their speed and strength.

I totally agree with why they are so good, I did put them in my honourable mentions but honestly I don't really see the point of them on The Center even though they are very strong, yes they are pretty good and fun to use especially as boss fighters, would be very good if you can get them in there as there's water everywhere in the arena and great for all the reasons you mentioned but for me there's only a small selection of sea creatures that can be very useful on The Center as there are no underwater caves unlike the Island map where Xiphactinus are amazing...the ones on the list are purely there for their great utility purposes. What really is the biggest danger in the Center's ocean? Probably an alpha Tuso which the Tuso can easily kill too. Also Shasta is only on the list because it's new, only thing I might use it for is helping my Dunky farm/carry/smelt all that metal in the deep ocean🤣

It would have to be the Center or the Island, depends how much you played the Island since release haha, because I still think that and Scorched Earth are the best maps in terms of optimization, Aberration was underwhelming in all fields for me to be honest!

Definitely should get one :D. Argy can carry a Thyla btw! Unless you're playing official PVE or a server that has flyer carry disabled. I just use the 2x4 pitfall trap to tame em!

@@BEYPlaysGames nah i think thylo r just a bit bugged on my server like some wouldn’t pounce from the tree there tails would get stuck in the tree and they would just slowly fall down and then the bite wouldn’t work so once i eventually found them it made my life easier i literally just looked for like 2 hours and got a 140 male & 140 female and literally just bred them and got triplets. i’m sorry for writing paragraphs and don’t use proper grammar 😂😂😂

Depends if you're playing PVE, won't be able to do it on official PVE because there's no flyer carrying, you can change the setting if playing Single Player or Unofficial! To pick up will be with the crouch key!

Also the Spino could be a good tame for this map because of the large amount of rivers across the land and the big quantities of water in general, also the boss arena has water so it could be a viable way to defeat the bosses

Spino is great yeah! Was weighing up the option of adding them to the list but personally the Baryonyx is far better for traversing and the others even with the hydrated buff still are better for the boss fight, honestly wish the Spino would get a buff or something! They are weaker in ASA too because their bipedal stance is slower than the ASE version of the Spino!

Ok so this might be an odd question but I notice in some scenes of your videos you have the water clear with no motion blur, would you share with me what you do to achieve that? The water in ASA because of the super wavy blur makes me extremely motion sick, way more than ASE! Ark is my favorite game but since I can’t do any of the water exploration now it’s made it pretty impossible for me to progress. I tried a clear water mod on curseforge (mod is broken) and admin commands (gets rid of blue fog but not the wavy blur which is what makes me sick). I play single player and non dedicated but if I need to rent a server to get a fix I will no problem. Thank you if you can help me, but if not no worries at all :)

Hi! Not an odd question at all! Tbh I don't think it's my settings on the Center, a lot of area in the ocean (only on the Center map) seem to have crystal clear water, when using the Fog command...usually i have to deal with the ugly blurry style too but I normally turn it off completely if i'm filming clips (unless it is around one of the clear areas in the ocean) try going to the deepest parts of the ocean on the right side of the map, and see what you think when you use the fog command, it's awesome XD

I feel like the Gigantoraptor, Ceratosaurus, Spino and Megalodon should’ve been somewhere on the list, the Gigantoraptor is close to the Theri in strength, the fastest runner in the game (excluding stuff that charges like Cerato and Bear) and has very good utility for breeding, the Ceratosaurus with its charge is extremely fast, it’s stronger than something like a Carno and can heal like a Daeodon they’re very good for support in bossfights or as a main mount, the Spino is possibly the best boss fighter for the Center with the only better option being the Megatherium and they’re very good travel mounts, the Megalodon is easy to tame and a good early game underwater mount but a pack of them is literally the strongest thing in the ocean, their pack buff makes them very strong and they have a % based bleed like the Thyla, I believe the Theri, Otter, Baryonyx, Shastasaurus and Thylacoleo should be lower on the list or removed from the list, the Theri is mostly good for the Dragon bossfight which isn’t on the center and even on the island with transfers the Pyromane is now better due to being immune to lava and fire, the Otter loses much of its use due to the Pyromane, I get its not on the list but it still influences how good the other creatures are but it really outshines the Otter in the insulation part, it has more weight for the 50% weight reduction, it can help with combat and can transform into a full mount, the only real use the Otter has is carrying artifacts, the Baryonyx similar to the Otter is just way worse due to the Pyromane since it largely replaces it as a mid game land mount and completely replaces it for caveing as the new best cave creature only leaving the semi aquatic niche with the stun to be usefull, I also believe the Shasta just isn’t that good since it requires the replicator to get the saddle and isn’t that strong or fast, it’s only real use is the submarine saddle but it’s too small to have an actual base inside it, lastly I think the Thyla similar to the Theri, Otter and Bary gets overshadowed by the Pyromane, it’s easier to tame, does more damage, has way better utility based abilities like lighting fires for free and making food and jerky and that’s ignoring the part it can be put on your shoulder giving u insulation, a flamethrower turret and a 50% weight reduction on everything in its inventory

I do agree with everything you said but here's why I didn't pick them, Gigantoraptor definitely helps when breeding but in my opinion I don't feel like they are as important as the rest, it was nearly on the list though mind, it was in my honourable mentions at the end, so was the Cerato which is also great for support like you said but i'm trying to rate the creatures as a whole so chose to go with other creatures that are capable of beating bosses without needing to heal at all, boss fight is pretty easy also so I think it's more important to pick tames with the best damage (which is why Megatherium is a top pick) does like 3k damage to the Brood with around only 620% melee with the insect killer buff active, which is insane. I love the Megalodon btw, one of the most underrated creatures of the ocean, sharing the exact bleed as the Thyla but I don't see why they are needed for the Center, there's no difficulty underwater caves like The Island (which is where I use a pack of Megs all the time) Thyla is amazing man, it can get you to Artifact of the pack instantly while being able to easily loot a red crates without even having to run the puzzle jump section at all! It 100% deserves to be on the list :D. And like I said, I'm not including the Pyromane, the amount of hate i'll get for sticking an OP creature on it stuck behind a paywall would be crazy XD. And Shasta...well you're right, it's not the best, i only put it on the list because it is new and everyone will still want to tame it, just to tame it haha.

@@JadeValstraxGaming910 Broken in a bad way XD It's meant to be the stance with the better DPS, I believe it does do slightly more damage but it's so slow ever since ASA released that the quadrupedal bite attack is way quicker and has better DPS overall. It's a shame because the Bipedal stance was the go to stance for combat :(

Depends really, sometimes I find the artifact can instantly respawn and then other times it doesn't so I go out of render and it has usually respawned by that point :)

Btw the Spinosaur is really OP on the Center. Not even that its crazy good in the Water like the Bary, it's also better for Boss Fights on this Map cause its filled with Water and they get there Buff 24/7 up

Yea those are both in my honourable mentions :D sadly Spinos still can't compete with the Rex, Theri or Megatherium for boss fights even with the Hydrated buff and the boss arena full of water, ever since the bipedal stance was made weaker in ASA it's been really difficult for me to compare the Spino to it's rivals,Spino needs a bit more off a buff TLC or stats to be improved sadly :(

I don't think there is via Obs due to none of them being close to water but i'm pretty certain you can transfer them via supply drops, there's a lot that will spawn in the water too on The Center!

A tamed Argy is always my first goal when starting out because like you said, it will set you up nicely for the whole game! Makes everything so much easier, I always skip taming other flyers like the Pteranodon and just go straight for an Argy! XD

Pyromane has got to be a top 5 tame. The ability to inflict passive fire damage, good manoeuvring, jumping and the best part is they can transform from being a full mount to a shoulder pet that breathes fire when you're attacked!! Absolute badass tame!

It's just a big f**koff whale that doesn't fit anywhere and doesn't do anything. Doesn't even look particularly cool with the new saddle design, and it'll be constantly spitroasted by swarms of Xiphactinus. You could transport some tames across the water or something, but guess what? Cryopods exists. Hell, even rafts. Guess I can see an argument that you'd want to tame one for the novelty alone, but other than that, it looks fricken' grim, boys.

I imagine the being attacked thing must drive you up the wall though, with how MASSIVE they are and how you probably can't really do anything about some X-fish munching on your tail with it, other than swim around with an entourage of your own.

@@bajcli It's an absolute nightmare, the Shasta will definitely be very useful to take down to the deep with the Dunky to gather all of that metal, didn't actually test to see if an Indy forge would fit in it but it could be game changing if it does!

@@BEYPlaysGames If the Tek Replicator fits, then it should no problem because the indy forge is a good bit smaller (even heightwise). So yeah, that does sound insane. I just flew around a bit on the Centre in /leavemealone mode to check it out, and the amount of metal in the ocean is staggering. Gonna be placing my base next to water for sure when (if) WC manages to fix what last patch broke (DLSS/frame gen, frame drops after the Cera release, whatever's wrong with the Center, etc.) and I get around to playing the map, it's sounds way too convenient + I love swimming around anyway. Love the vids btw :)

The theri is the most overrated harvester in the game, without weight reduction practically anything elses workflow is more efficient. Sort of like how the dunks speed and inability to access a reasonable forge location makes it a headache for resource gathering. Two of my favorite "I read the wiki" recommendations as they both get outclassed by what is essentially 'work smarter not harder' knowledge

I understand where you're coming from, I would always add the Anky, Mammoth and Doed to a top 10 list if it was a personal opinion but a lot of people would also disagree with me picking them, the Mammoth actually made my top 10 from The Island. The Anky and Argy are by far most 2 favourite tames in the game, I also do disagree though, there is no all rounder that can harvest that many different resources and is one of the strongest boss fighters!

Spino needs a buff imo, it can't hang with all these other creatures on the list in terms of utility and boss fighting power, Spino has such little health compared to a Rex and are a nightmare to find, i'd love to see the Spino get a stats increase or something!

Well it's shit in the water so can't do half of the things these creatures can do and doesn't harvest anything but meat and hide, not to mention it is probably ass in the boss fight due to the arena being full of water AND probably can't even use any fire attacks on the boss. It does not replace anything tbh, yeah it would definitely be somewhere on the list but it's paid DLC, not a fan of that tbh, glad it wasn't on the list.
