Hugely impressive cinematography capturing a completely exceptional surfer - Russel Bierke seems to be able to read a wave like no one else, which combined with his extraordinary skill and fearlessness makes for one of the most compelling surfers alive today. I would love to see him at Nazaré or Teahupoo... all best with your career!

Most of my life in my psyche Waimea was the biggest. Then came the cloud breaks. I've always heard the North Atlantic produces the biggest waves on earth. Now we know where they break. The French must be shaking their heads in a big "I told you so" . The world and life itself is amazing. It shows how important an open mind truly is. You just never know..

As an old surfer I have to say I'm super intrigued by the throwing of the boards into the water at 9:23 - please can someone explain to me how this works? Why don't the boards get pushed into the rocks down the line by the next few waves, and how do they catch up to them, and why don't they jump in after them on the incoming wave?
