Yes it's hard to know when, but the best moment is about 2 seconds before it hits you. It needs to be close enough to get distracted by the flares's heat signature, if you flare too early the missile will still track you after the flares disappears. No problem! The more points you get with any vehicle gives you different unlocks. First you unlock Heatseeker missiles, then later you unlock Rocket Pods, which I use in this video. On your Battlelog profile you can see the various unlocks and how close you are to getting them, and at the end of every game you can see how far away the next unlock is.

Well if you are flying straight forward, the little tag above the plane with your name is pretty much where the bullets are gonna go, and when you shoot you can clearly see the line of bullets and it's pretty easy to line up your shot - it's still best to aim with 1st person though

Yes. Flying jet in public games on this level is like stomping on ants. The ants occasionally try to fight back, with helicopters, 2 jets, stingers.... but you barely notice it

Yes, you got it. Perfect turning speed would be 313 knots, or simpler: between 300-315 knots. When you fly in 1st person (cockpit view) you can see the speedometer in a little box in the jet-HUD. That is why I sometimes go 1st person in the middle of a turn, to check my speed if I need to accelerate or brake. When you are flying in 3rd person it is harder to know if you are at the right speed, it's all about practice to "feel" if you need to adjust speed. I answer all questions on my channel!

You're right. When I recorded this I played on a laptop which could not handle full 1080p resolution, so I used to play in 720p :D My more recent videos are all 1080p though

Well it's all about controlling your speed. If you maintain your jet's speed at between 300-320 knots, you will turn much faster and at a smaller radius than the enemy

Hehe I shoot noobs in 3rd person sometimes cause it's fun, kinda hard to aim though. Yes normally you both explode instantly, but lag and glitches etc etc makes you survive quite severe crashes :D

They are actually exactly the same on all 3 platforms. The game functions and works exactly alike, because it is the same game ;) You only need to know how and where to aim - and know that all the different jets crosshairs are "different"! The 2 rush jets for example both go a little higher on the i-dot and crosshair than the 2 conquest jets, e.t.c. 2 full volleys kills any land vehicle, and 3 clear hits kills any infantry ;)

This is an old video, don't really remember this game. But I usually pop ECM as soon as people start locking and then I fly out of their locking range while I reload it, so if I do it correctly no one ever gets a missile off. If they get a missile off it's not that hard to dodge it without ECM anyway, I have several guides on how to do it =)

Yeap. I could be wrong, they've added weapons in every new expansion so I assume they're gonna do it in AK as well. But theyre really focusing on vehicles this time so maybe they're doing that instead of weapons, who knows

I recommend every new player to start with default controls, they are really good. But I personally can't fly at all with them, they don't make sense at all to me :D So I made up my own system. I included it in Part 1 of my jet guide series, if you want to take a look. But it's all really about figuring out where you want the binds, "pitch up, pitch down, roll left, roll right, throttle, brake, afterburn, counter-measures", assign those to a system fitting yourself, and practice with it

Yes it's always nice when you are not feeling too confident to meet people who are not good at shooting down jets. And it is very kind of you to not wanting to let your team down by not taking and wasting the jet - however avoiding the Jet will never make you better. Like Cheese said, practice the basics in un-manned servers. Follow my guide series and practice all the steps on an empty server, until you feel confident to take on other pilots.

My sensitivity for vehicles is kind of low, mostly because some vehicles very fast get too fast like chopper gunner. Too bad there isnt a sensntivity for every vehicle class, that would be better

What happened in the fights vs miipe that he recently posted, is that I had NOT flown a jet for 3-4 weeks, while he had been practicing 1v1 every day during my break. I don't know if he mentioned that in the description :P I was certainly NOT at my best, and you can clearly see I can't keep my speed at all. I wasn't used to flying at all :P He's a good pilot though, always trying to improve himself

If you wanna be successful in jet you first off need Air Radar! For second perk I play with ECM, Flares and Extinguisher just as much, but after patch I would say flares is best for normal games, ECM if you're gonna 1v1 dogfight much. And third perk rocket pods hands down. Use your machine gun to take out jets and choppers, and rocket pods for everything on the ground!

Swedish servers are located in Stockholm. I live in Stockholm. I usually ping 1-2 on Swedish servers. Not that I have ever noticed any problem with ping at all, I usually just find random European servers where I ping 30-60 and I don't notice any lag compared to Swedish servers :O

Helicopter gunners tears through a jet in seconds if he's good - so never attack a good heli team from the front. As a jet always attack from above or behind for safest attack. If you have good accuracy you will tear through the heli in LESS than 1 long burst (before it gets overheated), normally they can't even bail out in time. Just practice your aim, and practice how to lead your shots. Heli's are harder to lead than jets, because it's not always clear what direction they are going & how fast

Before the patch I always used Extinguisher or ECM, but now stingers are so goddamn hard to dodge, and ECM fail me ALL THE TIME! So I started using flares, and they work really well for me. Like you said, as long as you flare at the right moment it should stop all missiles. I guess you already know this but you have to flare a good 2 seconds before the missile hits you, but AFTER the enem has fired :D Keep up the job, mate

There is no way to "lock" the speed at 313. But if you are going for 300-310, THAT is your problem right there. A very good turning speed is between 300-320 (which is what I usually say) but Optimal speed is between 307-317, lower than 307 or higher than 317 and your jet starts to turn a little slower. But like I said nobody locks their speed perfectly at all times; even pros fluctuate sometimes, most of them constantly check 1st person cause their speed is way off =)

Yes all the jets should have the same ideal turning speed. 310-313 is the best speed in Rush jets as well, and the F35. But all Jets in the game feel different from one another, and they aren't capable of the same turns. The Rush jets are, and feel, slower than CQ jets.

Always different every game, some games have really good enemies with lots of anti air, some have less. There's always someone trying though, AA, jet, chopper, stinger. As long as they're not more than 3 people I usually handle it with zero effort

Well, the boring answer is quite obviously HIGH PING, but the fun answer is that we did a high five. BF3 is not a realism physics simulation, but it has got really nice physics. Two jets colliding results in the death of both pilots, but high lag (like at 7:00) causes confusion with the hitboxes, like being able to kill people who have already passed round a corner, or shotgunning someone in the face but none of the pellets register hits half the times. Lag and lag =(

I only use keyboard too, that is by no means a disadvantage. Are you keeping up with my beginner-guides? If you fail to catch up, maybe it's either your manouvering or your speed control that you need to work on. Or worst case scenario: They are simply much better than you are. Don't worry though! Keep practicing and you will dominate most servers in no time, I am glad I have helped you, and I will try to continue doing so with more guides coming soon =)

turning speed only helps in dogfights. if you only have 200 points in jet, you dont have to worry about turn speed yet :D watch my jet guide and try to get comfortable with your controls, your manouvering and your aiming

Draw distance on console is much shorter than PC. If you use Guided Missile IR camera you can see much further and maybe that helps =)

What I'm saying is a 15 (or more) kills with 0 deaths in any game is considered a perfection. I got 52 kills, which is (as you pointed out) greater than 15; which means it is a perfection. My point was not "52 and 15" my point was "15 and 0" =)

Flares is definitly better for beginner pilots - much more reliable and easy to use! Pilots who feel good and want to be better at dogfighting other jets should learn to use ECM. I always use ECM because it's superior in dogfights, but sometimes on public servers with no good pilots but many many stingers I use flares instead because it's more reliable =)

It is obviously from the same round - but I edited out some parts. In the end I show the stats, which are 52-0. And the example you gave is obviously wrong since EVERYTHING carries over between the two clips, I am in the exact same squad, same flags, same amount of tickets - I only cut away maybe 1-2 minutes where nothing exciting happens a few times in the video. Don't come here and call me a liar without thinking first.

I'm sorry I am no expert in avionic-lingo :D I assume you mean the "brake"-maneuver Tom Cruise does in Top Gun? I have not tried doing that particular "cobra" movement, but I perform a Dillan maneuver (or whatever it's called) where you slam the braks hard while rotating to make you a harder target, and let the enemy fly past you. I can maybe post a video doing that maneuver, but I'll have to try that cobra thing too :D Only that has to be filmed from a 3rd players perspective I think :P

I never said anything about balanced, but it is in the game (and it has received a ton of nerfs already) and I use it because it is in the game, and is fun to use. I actively look for better players, that's why I practice 1v1 dogfighting. But in public games I can't choose who I play against, not my fault people in this particular game weren't too skilled. I bought the game just as everybody else and should be allowed to play it =) If anything I try to encourage people to become better as well

Air Radar is like the biggest tip for anyone tryin to get good at jets. That makes dog fights 50x easier and then a good amount of practice is needed for the rest. I sucked ass at flyin jets like 2 weeks ago and now I dominate the sky in every server I join. I'm still kinda average at killing infantry though cuz I find it impossible to see them a lot of the times.

I only play PC unfortunately. But my several guide videos apply just as much to PS3 and Xbox 360 as to PC. Almost everything there can be used on console. And yes, you can turn just as sharp and precise on console :D All you need is practice. It's not easy on PC either, I tell you, but anyone can do it with some practice and tips and tricks

It looks so much easier on cpu than console to spot! I mean it's easy enough to spot, it just doesn't show the enemy till your damn near close enough to see the filling in their teeth. Not to mention there are only 24 players max on the console as opposed to the 64 on cp. But you are still by far the best jet pilot I've seen footage of :o) I would play on CP if I had the cash and knowledge to get all the gear.

There are many ways to take down a jet from the ground, or render him useless up there, but that being said jets are much less potent in hardcore games, so for people who really despises jets hardcore is a good alternative

Well played. Just like I can't stand people stereotyping snipers, when an aggressive, skilled sniper can completely change a game for a team, you show that it can be done with jets too. I'd personally love to have guys who know what they're doing in the jets rather than idiots just wasting space and providing little to no support, it can really help. Owning AlphaNerd was quite funny too, think I'll subscribe :)

Well.... no? The hud is the same size as console because I play on the same resolution (720p) many video showing smaller hud are playing on 1080p resolution, which is too high for my laptop. Doing a guide for what? If the enemies keep sending up air vehicles faster than you can kill them, there isn't really much to do. But in many of my videos you can see the enemy jets taking off right after I kill them both, but I always find time to kill a tank or two, get a few infantry kills, before I have to dogfight again.

There's no 3rd person, no 3D spotting, no free-look, etc. I only play hardcore and it seems like the only kills I get are air vehicles because I can't see any vehicles on the ground due to the lack of 3D spotting. In this old video I played on my gaming laptop, i7 @ 2 ghz, 8 gb ram, geforce 560m. Now I have a beast desktop PC: i7 @ 3.5 ghz, 16 gb ram, 130 GB SSD, geforce EVGA 680 Super-overclocked. Now I can run BF3 with everything on Ultra in 1920x1080p resolution with 80-200 fps :D

Yes jets are STUPID easy to bring down, even for 1 person with decent anti-air skills. 2-3 people working together to bring it down will clear the skies completely. I'm just happy most public players doesn't realize this :D

I personally can handle all FPS games much better with mouse+keyboard, but there aren't really any difference with the different controls on different platforms (PC, 360, PS3), it's all based on the same jet and movements. I believe anybody with enough practice can be just as good on console
