Beautiful job wiring your cabinet! As professional as any of the industrial shops I've worked in. Assertion levels for logic: When +24V is used to turn something 'ON', some use the lingo that the "signal asserts HI" (the assertion level is HIGH). When Ground (the - minus side of the 24V line) is used to turn something 'ON', the lingo is that the "signal asserts LOW" (the assertion level is LOW). Most of us think of a switch connecting raw power. When logic signals are used, a circuit can be designed to actuate using either polarity.

This is great! Thanks for putting the time in to explain things in a concise manner. I am in the midst of putting together a router table with a 2.2Kw spindle, and as such it's great to have resources like this. Keep it up! Cheers :)

Could you post the wiring for the second relay used to cut the power to the spindle? I have my spindle connected to Mach3 with just hte 0-10V and would like to implement the on off as well. As now the low voltage stops the spindle but better to have a mechanical relay doing that. At the solenoid level (coolant) I did not see that you placed a diode, but if not then I would advice to add it to don't allow the current to flow back. Thanks a lot

It's quite simple, just assign an output pin to spindle on, and then use that pin to trigger the relay. On the output you can either connect your spindle directly, or a contactor, or whatever other means you're using to turn your spindle on/off.

@@DarkArtGuitars ok good, so in your case you have let's say the + input that goes to the spibdle connected to the output of thst relay so you can turn it off. Do you have a link for those high voltage dpdt dc relay? All the one I find on Aliexprrss are only good up to 30V DC. The spindle motor on those mills are DC.

Do you have a link for the limit switches please? (I’d also like some guidance on connecting and configuring with the ESS/MB3 and Mach4 but that might be asking too much!!)

Search for inductive switches, then you'll find them. For configuring, you can check out some of my videos, plus make sure to check out the manual for the MB3, for my MB2 it was very good and that's how I figured out most of the things.

Mine definitely doesn't look that nice. Right now just finishing it up and want to make sure it works. If it works and I get the rest of the machine going, I'll think about cleaning it up. The wire chases definitely do a good job of hiding the clutter.

That was my mentality as well, get it working and then deal with the mess later :D

Hey David, I have an optimum BF30 Mill with nearly exactly the same cnc conversion. I have spindle control working too. Let me know if you would like to chat about it!

Hey man, just want to say I love your channel. I found it over two years ago when i wanted to build a CNC. I found your videos extremely helpful with how strong you need everything to be. If it weren't for you, I would have built something where it would have taken hours to cut anything. And i love your transition to Death Metal. Metal head here since i was 12 (36 now) Check out Revocation, Exmortus (Slave to the sword album especially), Arsis, the black dhalia murder, vale of pnath

Thanks for the recommendations. Hadn't heard of Exmortus before, and I have to say, I quite like them. Very shredelicious!
