Is blending not allowed in object drawing paper?? Also can you use eraser for highlights?

There will be no issue doing blending techniques. However, a beginner pays more attention towards blending than the objects' ideal tonal values and texture of the objects. So I am not in favour of blending when we are preparing for the Entrance Exam.
