ACCEPTED art portfolio! - risd, scad, ut, pratt

this is my accepted college art portfolio!! i applied to 6 schools and got into all of them (surprisingly) including RISD, SAIC, UT Austin, SCAD, and Pratt!!
in this video i walk through my full art portfolio as well as my extracurriculars, grades, GPA, and SAT score so you can get a good idea of my entire application. this was highly requested so I hope you enjoy it and if you're applying to college soon i hope it helps!!! :)

As someone who went to RISD I see this and have no idea how I got accepted sometimes lol. Your work is fantastic, I'm not surprised at all you got accepted to all your choices! I hope you have a wonderful time. If you choose RISD, you will definitely have so much time to refine your craft. You really get close to your classmates and by the end no one is holding back during critique any more. It definitely helps you refine your craft and point of view. But whatever you choose, I just hope you have fun! :)

OMG!!! ITS YOU!! thats so coollll i was looking through like all of the gold medal winners for the scholastic art awards just to get a feel of what the competition was like and I remember thinking that your pieces were soo good. I'm currently a freshman in highschool and I won a gold key this year but unfortunately didn't get any national awards :( I'm really worried about my future competitions because I struggle with time management a LOT and have trouble coming up with creative ideas that arent cliche but are unique enough.. anyways this video was super helpful and you're such an amazing artist!! thank you!

never have I ever seen art like this. It looks like a photo, and not like other hyper-realism art that looks better than the reference, but yours literally just looks like a picture. It hurts my brain. I think a lot of it has to do with the lighting and colors you use. You don't exaggerate the shadows/lighting or make the colors more dynamic as most portrait artists do, you just color them the same as the photo. It looks so different from any art I've ever seen. It reminds me of those liminal spaces, like they feel eerie for some reason.

My suggestion: Go to a University you will enjoy, you will leave with the least amount of debt, treats their students well. I have attended 3 universities as an undergraduate - I will be graduating in 4/5 weeks with a BS in Civil Engineering. I was convinced I needed to go to the best engineering university but I was miserable for many reasons. I am now going to a university where I get a refund back each semester, my college advisors and staff go above and beyond, and there are many resources available to students. I am no longer miserable 😂 Goodluck and congratulations!

You have some of the most technical skill I've ever seen. College will definitely help you think outside the box, not saying you don't, but beibg around other talented-creatived you'll open your mind much more I found it interesting that you said you haven't done enough self portraits when all of your pieces were self portraits to a degree

Ahhh congrats on getting into those colleges! Your portfolio looks amazing!! I've been following you for a bit and I love your art style and how realistic it is! For the colleges, I'm just gonna say that it depends on what you want to major in. Another option is that you could go to a local community college/university for the first 1-2 years just to get the general ed classes out of the way and to think about what you want to do...plus it saves money so that if you decide to transfer down the road, you have time to save up some money. I'm a college freshman (second quarter/semester, idk what you call it lol) and that's what I'm doing right now. I got to tour Scad last year and it's a really pretty campus, though the buildings are spread out throughout Savannah and you have to take a bus to get to things. There seems to be a lot of resources at Scad though which is a plus! Even if you decide to transfer there a year from now, Scad still holds onto your accepted portfolio for a year. If you transfer there in junior year though, you have to resubmit things to show your skill. I can't speak for the other colleges though because I've never been to those. Hope this helps!

is there any chance you could go over the process of editing your references? especially for the artworks where you have multiple versions of yourself? your portfolio looks perfect by the by, and in regards to which school you should go to, there are a few things that matter: location, campus, which major you're going for, the teachers in each school, and any scholarships you got. if you want, i could send you a google excel that's really easy to complete on each university and help you decide on one of them!

SCAD student here. I am an Illustration major, graduating in 2026. Uhm, SCAD is okay. I applied to SCAD with good grades, 1110 SAT, and no portfolio and I still got in. Having good grades and a portfolio will help A LOT with your tuition. There are so many resources at SCAD that allow you to make connections as well. A class I took last quarter was called DIGI 130, and all it was was brand building. I made a website, a business card, and I learned how to present myself online. I am a freshman, so my input isn't probably the best, but I am on my third quarter here and I've had some really good teachers and major improvements! Freshman dining hall food kinda sucks tho lol
