I was trying really hard to make a stealthy approach to the objective on the far side of the map to hopefully turn the tide of the match, letting enemies pass me by if they weren't aware of my presence. I was perfectly hidden behind a rock just off of the objective when about a squad and a half worth of players ran from the objective in mass, not 5 feet away from me. It was perfect. They had no idea. Suddenly one of my squad spawned on me as a support class and immediately opened fire, absolutely spraying to no end. It baffles me! Most players would sooner take a couple of easy kills and die versus reaping the big picture benefits of actually THINKING and using strategy.

You are one of very few people who really understands the objective of this video. The only way to truely do good tactics in game is to have a full squad of like minded people, usually on teamspeak with you. Its almost impossible to pull off good stealth with random players. Thanks for the post.

cant agree more. its so annoying playing with random people who dont use mics and make no effort of communicating at all. not answering to signal messages or orders even.. its a tactical shooter for gods sake not call of dookie..communicating with your squad in great battles in bad company when you get on a roll = some of the best moments in first person shooters.

You don't even know how happy I am to find someone who's competent with the idea of sniping in this game. So many people won't even try to help out their team mates, where as if I were to see a fellow squad getting pinned down by someone who's using an LMG or something, I'll attempt to take out the LMG. They focus on kills and run into the map when they shouldn't with a sniper rifle. And finally someone understands the concept of waiting for the shot! Great video!

This game makes you realize how important team work is and people actually help their teamates unlike bf4 where they just run around doing their own thing. And it is still in 2018 too ... even with BF1 now. I played BF3 and 4 too and also some hours BF1 on PS4 of a friend and I must say that BC2 is still better in many points. ANd where I always get a laugh is when some trolls call smipers to be noobs, camper and whatever else ... there is a saying of "if you have no clua about it, you better shut up" and obviously they have no clue if they call a smiper to be a camper :-)

Not sure if I caught it or not, but something that I have done to keep myself alive is waiting to re-chamber a round, until several seconds after my kill. Generally, the dead will end up in a position where the (dead) player (from a 1st player view) can see where the fatal shot came from, after they are on the ground... for a few seconds after he dies. If you are hidden, your movement of re-chambering will alert him and anyone else to your presence/location.

Another Tip you should have mentioned, switch up where you want to hold out/camp. If you hide in places that everyone knows about then the enemy could get the drop on you. If you set up in location that not many people use you could possible get those targets trying to flank your team. Happens to me all the time my squad yells at me when Im facing the opposite direction of the battle however when the enemy tries to sneak up on us they don't get far. Very helpful video

That was kind of the point to part one. The cross hairs are an over-lay, thus your video resolution will change your hold over. 800x600 may need 5 pixels while 1920x1080 will need 15. Sqaure monitor vs wide screen will also affect it. Best way to learn is to take 1 or 2 practice shots into your target area. Aim at a known point, shoot, watch the bullet drop, re-align your sights to see the holdover needed for that area.

great video, great advice. applies to all battlefield titles really, especially the newer ones where teamwork is all but non-existent and teammates tend to get you killed more than help. I've also found that just simply sticking closely to any cover and peeking corners before rushing out lengthened my life expectancy and allowed me to get more kills. had a couple games yesterday with 40+ kills and an average of 5.0 ratio

K/D is simply a clear measure of how effective you are at killing other players, while not dying yourself. it makes perfect sense for DICE to display our K/D's, especially since there really isn't an effective way measure one's ability to play objectives successfully or play in a team-oriented way. For gods sake a long-range sniper that goes 8-0 can finish with more points than an infantry with 20 kills in bf4, and in a way that makes sense. The players that claim K/D is inconsequential are the same players that go 15-20 in an attacking game of rush and then blame their team for "not playing the objective"

Hallo Rolf A group of randomly selected individuals, will rarely act as a team, especially when the internet is involved. This video gets a ton of bad press, which I can understand because how much I speak about K/D. But this is merely one tactic in the tool box of a player. I have many other tutorial videos, most of which will give a better idea of how I like to play. May I suggest my "Recon Field Manual" series which is BF3 based and much more focused on using the recon kit to help your team.

A man of my opinion. The big problem in some servers is the kill cam showing your victim where you are. That is why Forgotten Hope 2 is my favourite for sniping. There is no UAV as in BF2 to give you away, but you can spot for your team. I do love a zero deaths score.

I think the problem with the Recon kit, is its abit of a mix up. You have a sniper rifle, therefore your ideal way to help the team is long range support. But you also have motion sensors and c4, so that contradicts the long range element. Someone said the Recon kit is a mix of the Sniper and the Spec Ops from BF2, its confusing to figure out what you should be doing when your capable of doing both, but not simultaneously.

The way to go far is to communicate as a sniper with your team. Giving john or george the drop on a enemy on his aft can give him time to hide behide a car, toss a grenade, and get the kill without a chane of death. I use this in BF3 to much effect with a support friend who uses C4 when I give him a drop. In similar vein, this is helpful for light vechiles to avoid armored vechiles, and vica-verca. Communication + Sniper = Higher team K/D ratio, and flags.

I totally agree with that last statement. Its part of why I make the videos, to try and help people play the recon kit better. There are way too many snipers that stay back and contribute nothing. Its why snipers in game are hated so much, people don't know how to use the kit to its full potential. Yes I sit back from time to time, but my main goal is to win. I change kits as needed to help my squad directly, and the team as needed. Team tactics and large maps, why I choose BF over COD.

for that tip about staying back from the window to hide muzzle flash and shadow yourself, it worked for me! it was the map Panama Canal playing conquest on US side, i went into one of the green two story sheds to snipe the ppl on the roof of the factory at flag D and they couldnt see me, there was another sniper in there with me and he went up to the window and got sniped every time, i stayed alive the whole match and ended with 32 kills 0 deaths using the SV98

The key is to not stay scoped in all the time. Control when they can see your scope glare. Biggest giveaway is to shoot and stay scoped in, now they know where to look. 2 rapid shots max then scope out, duck and wait a few seconds. Then re-engage your target if hes not looking in your direction.

I mostly played hardcore. BFBC2 had a very glitchy marking system that only worked proper for the first 100 meters. Long range marking almost never works. Not sure if they fixed that. BF3 is much better.

ryandpahl and other fellow bfbc2 players here is a sniping tip that helps allot when you play at big maps and engage long distance targets the screen is really blury well i found a solution go to video max out the contrast and the brighness set for around 40 then snipe targets are easy to see and even if they are hidden and you dont see em they FLASH thats why you max out the contrast. hope it helped

I have my good games and bad games so I'm not always effective for my team but I do always try to make sure that my team comes out with the win. If I notice that the enemies are starting to push back I go back to regular zoom and get a tad bit closer. This enables me to use my motion mines and take out enemy vehicles too. It also enables me to take less time aiming seeing how I'm closer. A high K/D is nice but every pro gamer will tell you that your number one goal should be the win.

@ceferistul05 I found the VSS was a great weapon in short to medium range engagements, especially on hardcore mode. However I never really tried to use it long range, If I plan to do long range then it was GOL or M95.

I like the mildots. GOL was supposed to be my favorite rifle, and then they put a hunting reticle on it. So I stuck with the M95. I rarely found an instance where its "slowness" was actually a factor that caused my death. Most people are not good enough with the GOL to make thier shots count at long range. I find counter sniping them is easy with the M95. Plus the M95 is the only rifle that guarantees a one shot kill at ALL ranges on hardcore.

@gotmilk585 in normal scenarios, place your crosshair on line with the top of the enemy's head (aim at the highest point of the head). For long range, you need to take practise shot and see how it curves (move the sights a little to the left/right to see where the shots will land) and then use that spot on the crosshair as the cross where you shoot. Hard right? Not really once you learn to do so. Hint: don't start at longest rages, go for 100m first where bullet drop is 1mm

Yes, they are different. The M24, GOL, and SV98 all have exactly the same amount of drop. The M95 uses heavy machine gun ammunition which gives the bullet slightly less drop.

I am just tired of guys spawning on my GOOD position, firing at the enemy I have been observing/avoiding, giving away my position, and I die because of thier lust for points. Stealth can go a long way in getting points and taking the upper hand. I preffer to bypass the front line and strike from the sides or behind. I don't need idiots in my squad shouting "HEY WE ARE OVER HERE!!!"

Your right, I didn't really mean for this video to come off like that about K/D. Having fun is what matters. But K/D is a great way to tell who is pulling thier weight. Actually my last point was not to camp, it was directed at medic/assault/engineer noobs who don't think before they shoot. The idea is to use a little stealth and teamwork to ensure your whole squad survives the tank. Instead of giving the tank driver four kills by essentially saying "HEY! 4 explosed infantry over here!!!!"

Would be nice if each kit had a specific count, such as... Recon = precision kills (all kit weapons and kills under 50 meters would not count). Engineer = vehicles destroyed/repaired to 100%. Medic = heals. Assault = resupplies/normal kills. Wonder how this would work out in a battlefield game.

Other than when attacking in Rush, the only thing that matters is number of kills. You win by killing more opponents more quickly than they do. If you notice those with the highest number of kills usually also have a lot of deaths.

It's the M95 and it is the last sniper rifle, you unlock it at around 56000 points in the recon class.

sniping recon in BC2 was the freakin best. if you play with a group of friends in a squad or a group who actually communicates...a sniper who plays with actual tactics and spots as much as possible turns into one of the biggest advantages you can make for your squad. spotting and rarely even firing the weapon can be more valuable to a squad than just ripping off rounds over and over. bf3 and 4 players seemed to not really care much about tactics and cover fire at all. levolution brought in too many COD run and gun kiddies ps heavy metal i miss that map so much.

So many true words spoken. The one thing I seem to miss the most is the team work. BF2 had it made. Six man squad and you had to keep your squad leader alive is you wanted to spawn up close to the action. VOIP in game that nearly everyone used. Its sad that they keep changing the game towards fast paced CoD style CQ matches. I always preferred the open ended map with no rules or real boundaries. The bottle necks they force you through now are just infuriating.

No, I mean when you fire, you stayed ADS. When I fire it moves me from ADS to hip fire automatically so i can't see where the initial round hit.

the best way to show how good you are is a combination of k/d - win/los - spm and accuracy (like the main stats in bf3) there is no single ratio or so that shows how good you are. for example, just sniping is no good way to play, because you don't help your team to win in an effectivly way

Did you miss the part where they compared it to hunting. The sniper team was "observing the area" for weeks. Learning who the key players were. That sounds like about 90% of thier job was observation. Waiting for the right moment to take out key players.

yea this only works on hardcore mode. once you kill an enemy from a camping position on softcore, your position will be revealed. and yea i agree with what you said. It's about having fun but sniping from the edge of the map wont destroy any m-com.

@IdoQQ so having your hole squad die because some idiot shot a rocket and you got spotted, means that you have to run back to that spot to have your teammates have a good spawn to get behind or near the enemy command post. Having on sniper that is looking at a flag is not a bad thing he can provide you where enemies are in the hole village instead of your tiny field of view. Also if they are watching you the sniper can hit the target one time giving you an easy kill with minimal damage.

What's so good about the M95? The M24 is still one hit kill and it reloads a LOT faster. So why do people use it? (referring to hardcore mode)

@PhattBudz I don't know what level you are, but have you tried using magnum ammunition? I greatly reduces the bulletdrop and increases the damage just a tad, if I'm correct (long time since I've actually played it.)
