Hunter to be honest when I started my BFS journey I was very skeptical to be honest. But sense I have started this journey it has brought something back to fishing for me. When I was a kid I used to eat, sleep, and breath fishing. Now that I am retired I wanted something to bring that back for me. And with your help and the help of a couple other people you know I am getting back to the place I want to be. And honestly Crappie fishing for me is therapy. And to add the bfs component to Crappie fishing it just takes it over the top. Thank you for the review videos and the new product reviews.

It's amazing, all last year, I went to every store, Bass pro, Sportsmans, Fishermans warehouse looking for my ideal BFS rod, and not 1 person even knew what BFS is. Good rod suggestions! My ideal rod is a 7'0+ light action fast tip strictly for bass. Trout and crappie, your suggestions are spot on. I love that crappie max for small yearling bass. Makes for a fun fight.

I use the crappie maxx with my zephyr and have caught up to 3 1/2lb bass on it. You have no control of the fish but I don't mind working the fish a little longer, I love it but heard the pro version has more power. Can't wait to try that one out. I throw small swimbaits with it

Been making videos with the crappie max and a zephyr ever since they came out lol. It's a cheap combo that just works. It will hold up to bigger fish. Caught a few 5 and 6 pound small mouths on it. Good content my dude. Can confirm that poppers work great on this. I also use Ned rigs and drop shots with this combo.

At least at MY Bass Pro store, there is not a single BFS rod for sale. And, as usual among other fishing tackle stores in my area, there is not one single baitcasting rod that is rated Light or Ultralight action (and, ML is rare). It has been that way for at least 15 years. If you want rod bend with small fish, spinning tackle is the only option. Apparently, BFS isn’t to anyone’s interest in my area, at least not yet. And, its probably unlikely that Cashion, Old 18, Kistler or Cajun will ever be available at a big box store like BPS or Cabelas.

Do you think you could get by with throwing small crankbaits on the carbon lite? I’ve been looking at a bfs setup but the rods are hard to find. I looked at the dobyns rod but I have a hard time paying $190 for a rod and the carbonlite I could use my club points to purchase but I want to get one lite enough it serves its bfs purpose. Mainly looking to throw small jigs, ned rigs, small crankbaits, small Topwater, micro spinnerbaits and what not.
@TheHunterFisher2 жыл бұрын
I throw 1/10 oz ned rigs very comfortable on the Carbonlite so yeah I’d think so. Ideally the Carbonlite is better for small crankbaits. I prefer the fast action of that dobyns though right now. But Carbonlite isn’t bad at all, 1.0 crankbaits would be great. Just more a moderate fast action.
@scottbrungard83222 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick response! Overall you prefer the dobyns over the carbonlite? Also what’s your reel of choice? I want a Cuardo BFS but have a hard time paying that also. I was looking at the kastking zephyr but not sure how much confidence I’d have in a cheap reel or how it would perform.
@TheHunterFisher2 жыл бұрын
@@scottbrungard8322 to be honest with you, I don’t recommend the Curado bfs. It hasn’t wowed me like other cheaper options. I prefer the dobyns. It’s not in the same level honestly. As for an alternative to the Curado BFS, go on BaitFinesseEmpire.com and check out the Tsurinoya Dark Wolf Ultra. I like that reel much much more after about 2 months of testing. Curado hasn’t been fished since March and before that day, since January. To me it’s a finicky reel. P.S. Tsurinoya Dark Wolf Ultra might be the focus of a video coming very soon

I've always found it funny when people talk about not being able to cast light lures or weightless soft plastics with standard casting gear. With my 1970s lews speed stick, 1972 Abu 5000c and 10lb line I'm able to cast weightless 4,6 and 8 inch saltless straight tailed worms. On some days I'm able to throw 1/8 ounce jigs with the stock bearings.
@lukediepfishing2 жыл бұрын
BFS reels just do it a lot easier and effortlessly. I doubt that you'll be able to cast 1/32 ounce trout jigs on a regular baitcaster tho 😁

4, 6, and 8 inch baits is a different story than a rooster tail or a 2.5 inch weightless swimbait.

There’s rumors and supposed paperwork for it through Doyo. The Crappie Maxx is definitely due for a new model with it being nearly 5 years since a new model, the color of the Crappie Maxx series rods and reels has changed, and I’ve seen it being phased out of other locations. Tbh it’s one of the best baitcasters at its value
