Sad to see it all gone. I lived directly in front of the PX and across from the Top Hat from 94 to 96. Had a ball. Retired now but Sullivan was my favorite duty station ever.

I was an Army Dependent at BFV from June 1979 till October 1982.. Are you talking about the guy who drove off the bridge into the Rhine River ?? I was there outside the Bowling Alley when they brought the Tank back to Base on a really large Flatbed trailer.. I'll never forget that , water was still draining out and the Main Gun Barrel was bent almost like a "J ".. To see that was both sad and disturbing.. My he R.I.P.. 🇺🇲

Wow !! I couldn't recognize anything except the Old Gym and the Movie Theater.. My Dad was a Civilian Employee for the Department of The Army. So I was there from June, 1979 till October,1982 .. It was a great time and age to be over there , I absolutely loved it.. I got to visit so many places... Amsterdam, Paris, Prague Czechoslovakia and all over Germany including the Berlin Wall... It was good to see BFV again after 40 years. I appreciate you taking us for the Ride a Long ..👍🦅🇺🇲🦅

I was there from '98-'00 BFV and lived on Columbus. But worked at Coleman Barracks with 414th Signal Batallion Sandhofen Germany. I remember signing in at BFV and walking in to a place that had Beanie Babies in a glass show case and up stairs we would take a class to get our Drivers License. I remember Burger King and walking to the Commisary. My wife at the time worked at the shoppete in Columbus and her Boss was, "Mr Hand". I had friends on Jefferson, Washington, etc. if anyone remembers please reach out. Plus there was a restaurant back there that I can't remember.

I'm finally going to be going back later this year to show my daughter where I once lived for 3 years. I was an Army brat and my paternal unit was stationed there from 86-89. If you don't mind my asking, was it easy to rent a car there or will we be okay traveling by train since we will also go to downtown Mannheim after visiting what was once home? Is the shell of the high school still there and middle school that was across the street in back of the high school? Sorry lot's of questions but am looking forward to going back for a nostalgia moment.
@blackcaddy8367 Жыл бұрын
What city are you flying into? You won’t have a problem renting a car at all. I rent my cars from Budget in the airport. We always fly into Stuttgart Airport. Your stateside driver’s license and credit card is all you need.
