A lot of people don't realize that McDonald's in Russia was always much better than the ones in the US, food quality wise, but more importantly the vibe is different, in the US visiting McDonald's you feel like you're at the bottom of the society, while in Russia it's a very pleasant experience, the only food chain that comes close to it in the US is In-n-Out burger

I think it's because ironically Russia has less economic disparity and layering than the US does these days, the supposed land of equality and freedom. In the US they like flinging around accusations of racism at each other, but i think that's just a crude cover up for the general economic hardships and problems nobody can or wants to solve. Only rich people can afford to buy a house, no matter what race they are, and only rich people's families can thrive on one salary. It's because the land's laws give all advantages to speculators and none to average honestly working citizens. It's an all or nothing mindset, and that reflects on food quality and quality of everything in general.

fun fact, Rostic's was actually the first name KFC had in Russia all the way back in 2000s. Then they rebranded into KFC and now most spots are Rostic's again. Sort of like Ile de Beaute stores that were becoming Sephora and now are back to being Ile de Beaute

Rostics was local Russian company, which in 2006 bough KFC when it came into Russia because they both sold chickens. They had different menu.
@MarkLee17 ай бұрын
Actually, the first Rostic’s restaurant opened back in 1993 as a domestic business. After about 10 years it has been recognized as the biggest food chain in Russia, had several awards for the best brand, best service, including best reputation by a British organisation. In 2005 they were joined by KFC as partners to make it Rostics-KFC. And only in 2011 they sold all the rights for the brand and operations to KFC. But even then, 70% of restraints were running as a franchise (of KFC), but managed by a Russian company. Only 30% were managed by the head company.
@depressed_firefly7 ай бұрын
@@MarkLee1I think those 30 percents are now those returning to being Rostic's if I'm not mistaken because franchised ones can keep the name. I mainly remember Rostic's from 2000s (middle of it mostly) and I do remember menu similar to KFC there, but I am aware it was original chain first that turned to KFC later. Coke is too expensive in Louisville,KY and I noticed if I drink generic coke out of a straw with ice it does make it taste much better. I am not paying these high prices we have here in America. America is going down hill and Russia sure is doing well. I wish we could be more like Russia. Most Americans just believe the anti-Russian propaganda but I don't because I really pay attention and have for years to Russia and that part of the world. It doesn't help that cause and effect will always be massively delayed in such a huge system, so when it does hit everyone how far things have gone, it may be too little too late.

In russia they do not have GMOs which is good enough!
@KrzysiuNet7 ай бұрын
Sure, and clouds are made of marshmallow. The ban is not total, as some misinformed media were writing, but it's allowed to have max 0,5% or 0,9% of GMO. The latter limit is possible when you pay gov, so we may guess it's not really about health or environment. That's theory. In practice 10% of food without information about GMO, contains GMO. And these are official figures, so I bet it's even worse - I bet you can pay enough to add it as much as you want. Must be really good enough, especially with counterfeit fish - somebody didn't pay up for overlooking this years-long scam..

@@znoop72 I thought the same once, but it's not really true. Some definitions to make it clear explicitly excludes organism which DNA got altered by natural means - natural or selective breeding. Plants like triticale *aren't* GMO, even if its story of creation is deliberate, in-lab hybridization. PS: OFC don't believe me, check definitions yourself. In Russia, an employee is offered an income of $600 per month 5. In the USA, an employee is offered an average income of $1,800 per month 6. In Russia, prices for products and services are at least 4 times lower than in the USA 7. As a result, an income of $600 in Russia = an income of $2,400 in the USA 8. In Russia and the USA, taxes, the cost of other services such as medicine, education, fuel for cars - it makes no sense to compare at all - in Russia everything is radically several times cheaper. 9. So everything is okay - I’m not surprised when Putin says that Russia’s economy is Top 1 in Europe, taking into account purchasing power parity.

Well Hello to Vladimir & you, Russell from the UK. First things first. The last time I'd venture into a McDonald's was around 2016 because the only item did like of theirs was the milkshake. While on my travels across the capital, I tend visit BK (Burger king) because I see it rather better than MCD. As for the price that you bougt, Russell in a BK, it can go for roughly £6 something to £7 something. Regarding the Dobro Cola drink, the drinks manufacturer can only repurcate the flavours, not actually use the actual ingredients in case they infringe interlectual property. For many in Russia that have said KFC and McDonald's taste have changed, well back in 2014 ir 2016, the Russian president gave a speech to the house that by a certain date, that be it fast food and food in general across the country, it has to be only organic(natural) because here in the West, there so much chemicals in our food we consume, that leading to chronic health problems. BTW, see you both at KFC! Thanks to both of you. P.S. I forgot mention that here on KZbin, there is a lecture how McDonald's go about their business when dealing purchasing a certain variety type of potato and what the farmers do it in the US.

It is the same. In Russia, an employee of this restaurant receives $450 a month. This is very little. A cheeseburger in Russia costs 1 dollar. Products are even more expensive. In small towns people receive 200-250 dollars a month.

In NJ that meal costs $16.00

Yes, and that is the most valid comparison to make, because you have to remember he is showing Moscow prices here, one of the biggest and most sophisticated megapolis's in the world. Some of the comments are comparing it to prices i don't know where and i don't know when. These days food in the US and everything else has increased in price enormously. Not so much in Russia.

It is seen as a street and outside food. You don't have knife and gable /fork on the streets (any more). It was a peasants style at work on the fields. I don't know if it may be eaten with wooden knife and fork. At home one may eat sandwiches with gable/fork and knife.

Hello Russell, As a captain who has traveled a lot around the world, I have also eaten in many McDonald's. Unfortunately not in Russia, as I was mainly traveling there in the mid-90s and the country really wasn't doing very well. In general, the McDonald's, although they are all called "Mc Donald", are very different in terms of taste and clientele in different countries. For example, here in Turkey, where we live now, you can hardly compare the taste of a BigMac with one from a McDonalds in Finland, it's just horrible here and very expensive too. A menu comparable to the one you have chosen would cost around the equivalent of 700 rubles. In addition, it is often dry, little or no sauce on the BigMac and the cola is always watery lots of ice cubes. We rarely eat at McDonalds or BurgerKing anymore. because “healthy” is relative and there are better and more nutritious foods in Turkey. I think for many people it's just the name "McDonald", similar to "Apple products" for example, that's why they go out to eat there... Greetings from Turkey👍 Dirk
