Ari, Just wanted to say because of this video, you inspired me to fix my 2015 CBR-300R. Long story short, my piston rings were shot, so I rebuilt part of the engine with no prior mechanical experience. Now, I feel like I can fix anything. Again, thanks for the inspiration!

A million thanks to you. My 2016 KTM Duke 390 was poorly and just suddenly became difficult to start . Then, it dropped a valve or something similar resulting in a wrecked head , piston etc. I sourced the parts mainly from India . It was setting the valve timing that freaked me but after watching your detailed video of how to set the timing on a KTM RC 390 , I got inspired. Rebuild was completed last week with the help of a talented Philippine mechanic ( first time for us both to tear down a KTM ) Thanks again for your inspirational videos.

Awesome video. I acquired an 05 cbr600rr with a connecting rod sticking out of the engine case for like $500. I got a donor block for $100 bucks with a bad head. Switched over original head and whatever parts were better, valeve job, new clutch and now I have an awesome bike for cheap haha. You’re right there is nothing like hearing that initial start up. Best feeling in the world.

Good to watch your CBR video. I just happened to have bought TWO 2012 CBR 250's this past month. My first one is red/silver and had set unmoved for 5 1/2 years. I got it running with cleaned fuel system and it also needed a chain and rear master cylinder. It runs beautiful and has just 6,408 miles on it. This one I paid $400. for. The bad news is the promised title may not be available anytime soon. Looking for an option on the internet I found another CBR in a red/white/and blue format in beautiful condition that has a rod knock for $500.. Later I will investigate why. Tomorrow morning the engine will come out of the red bike into my red, white, and blue Captain America CBR. I am a 75 year old retired auto mechanic whose only claim to fame is I won the National Alfa Romeo Mechanic's Championship in 1986. I really wanted to make the red/silver one into the best bike as I also own it's "Big Brother" a 2010 VFR1200f in the same color scheme. I have the perfect working environment for these builds in a large mobile home on my new property where my other 3 bikes are stored. Wish me luck! I, like you, enjoy making things because as mechanics we LOVED what we do.

Today I made great progress, taking the engine out of the red one and almost completely installing it in the red, white, and blue one in 9 hours. I have to install the front fairing pieces. The "donor" engine had just 6,408 miles on it. I did check valve clearances while it was out as it is so much easier. The red, white, and blue one just had new tires and a lithium battery. Remounting that engine is a pain doing it all alone. I sure learned where everything is and I do have a factory manual @@AriH211

In case anyone is wondering where you get those little plastic ziploc bags, they're called jewelry bags, and you can find them in most big stores in the craft/art supply section. They're also ridiculously cheap, you can get a pack of 100 for a couple dollars.

Self disassembling motor. 😁 I love the fact you like small displacement track riding. I'm 52 now and I'm feeling 25 and haven't slowed down other than realizing my mortality and I like that I can flog away at 11k and and not feel like I am going to die at 180 mph. Way cheaper all the way around. Most fun class to race or track. You have new subscriber.

Hi Ari, not sure if there is a conflict between you publishing videos here on your own channel vs your other channels, but I think it would be super awesome if you made some voiceover videos of some of your races on the cbr, rc390, and/or r3. What's going on in your mind, when do you have the confidence to pass, when do you back off? Where do you do well, where can you improve? That sort of insight would be epic! Cheers, you're a hero.

The fasteners you refer to as "bolts" are correctly called "screws". A bolt is used with a nut, and can have any of the common head types, socket, hex, torx, etc. Using the term "fastener" is usually appropriate. I worked as a mechanic many years and learned correct nomenclature only when becoming a mechanical design engineer. Do some research if you have questions!

Hey Ari. I was sad to see you leave the (other) channel but I guess things change all the time. Thanks for posting such a great vid on repairing an engine. Loving your editing and as always your commentary. No bullshit and that’s what I like. Great wee story going on there too and it was so nice seeing it from start to finish with the blast up the road. Any chance of more like this from you? Take care. Stu (Glasgow, Scotland)

Heya Stu, this was pretty much a one-off vid I made simply because I thought it would be fun. The Motor Trend gig keeps us pretty busy so I haven't had time to work on much outside of the bikes we're building for the show, but I do have a haggard Zuma 50 2t that needs a full rebuild, so maybe I'll get to document that.

Ari Henning That’s a pity it’s one off. This for me is the perfect video and with your presenting skills and sick editing it’s a front runner on KZbin mate. Anyway thank you for the very kind reply and all the best. Ride safe. Stu

Hey Ari! I understand that maybe you simply don't have time, or maybe you current employer (or previous) didn't like this idea, or whatever. Just wanted to say, like many already did, that we are many who would love to see more videos like this. Just Arizilla it up, man ;)
