I have a BH number two wheeler. Every 2 years we have to pay road tax @ 1233 rs. The most important thing everyone has to remember is about the PENALTY.... Failure to pay road tax after 2 years leads to a penalty of 100rs per day. And I have paid 4000 rs extra because I forgot to renew my registration for 40 days. So please be careful while buying BH registration.

NOC is valid for 11 months. Also, all southern states (TN, KA, KL, AP, TS) do not allow BH registration for anyone (KA allows it for central govt employees). The states consider this as a loss towards otherwise lumpsum road tax collection.

Sir, false claim.. Don't misguide others. You can apply for BH registration. There are certain criteria to obtain this. 1. The employer or the office where you work should have a minimum of 5 branches across India. 2. Download form 27A, fill the relevant details. 3. Obtain a work certificate from your employer, clearly indicating that they operate in 5 states. 4. Enclose those forms and relevant docs and submit to RTO. It's that easy. Now you go get your BH registration..

False. Many friends in my circle with business background with operations in many states have BH registered cars. They travel with no issues. In 2022 itself all states and union territories in India have accepted BH registration after negotiations. Now it is done and dusted, and already in operation.

@@Barathnarayanan not applicable to South Indian states escape KA allows it for central govt employees, and Puducherry allows it with some strange regulations. However you are free to get it from any state which provides this and drive it through India.

There is heavy revenue loss for state government, hence TN government is not willing to implement it. If you are central government employee then you can try in Karnataka.

2 corrections:- 1. All armed forces vehicles (which belong to MoD) will have Arrows. Private vehicles of armed forces personal will have normal number plates only - either as per state or BH. 2. Red plates with Lion emblems have been discontinued (soon after removal of red becons) and now all vehicles will have normal plates only. However some states might still be continuing it. But you will normally not find red plates with emblem in Delhi.

No you can save if you are registering through BH. Because upto 10 lakh RTO is 8% and above 10 lakh it is 10%. When comparing it to tamilnadu which is charging at higher % . For example tamilnadu is charging minimum RTO percentage of 12% for cars less than 5 lakh. If it is more than 10 lakh to 20 lakh RTO will be 18%. So you can save if you register through BH 11:43
