To answer the question @ 37:30 IN DETAIL (what is the appeal of popular female rap)Y’all gotta understand ignorance pretty much controls everything when it comes to music especially on the main stream level the same way that niggas who rap don’t talk bout shit that’s good at all literally at all but there’s just something about gloating and feeling good and degrading and wronging others that we as a society are attracted to musically it just feels good like it’s made to make you feel like you are the shit so when you talk about the female side of rap they aren’t doing anything worse than the male counterparts it only seems as if they are because the way society views women and treats women they are generally treated as if they are weaker and meant to always be second to men and are always told they need to act a certain way and be “lady like” and what not so when they now are going and creating something of there own and building something themselves and breaking major records (which is possible because this audience has always existed it just never got a chance to flourish) honestly the female music industry is a direct reflection of the of how the world treats women slowly and slowly as things start changing more and more and more people are understanding the problem in the world with misogyny and we start trying to change things you see more and more females feeling confident and comfortable enough to go out and make music with positive outcomes coming from it and it will just continue to grow until which we are pretty much at this point yet but until female rappers are literally just as popular as mainstream male artists and also overall that doesn’t mean like actually acting on the behavior the music talks about is okay the same way that it is with regular male rap music you shouldnt actually live a life like that but obviously that’s a conversation for another day thanks for coming to my Ted talk

Usually love the pod, but this one was...tone deaf. There are so many popping lyrical female rappers out there i.e. Noname, Tierra Whack, Chika, etc. Like y'all just talking right ow as if people are looking to rappers like Saweetie for guidance. It's just music dawg. Agent made a good point "Gangsta rap don't make me wanna murder somebody," and its the same for women (and men) who listen to music like Saweeties'. Idk if y'all gonna talk about these topics y'all gotta know what you're talking about you can't just be generalizing because it comes off as sexist.

I find it strange that the narrative is “why don’t women support female rappers or the WNBA”. I personally don’t listen to artists like Cardi or Meg kinda for the same reason you do. I don’t personally enjoy it but I still listen and support beautiful women under the hip hop umbrella such as SZA, Ari Lennox, Kari Faux, Jorja Smith, Solange, Noname, etc. It’s cool to have your own opinion but to say female rappers aren’t given more attention because women aren’t supporting them is weird. Maybe it’s the industry itself that doesn’t support them the same way they do men. Just a thought. But yeah there are many really talented female artists in hip hop for sure. They’re just not made mainstream/given the attention they deserve until they 1) sexualize themselves or 2) go pop to get a radio hit. That’s how I see it from my pov at least.
