Look at the whole episode. No unnecessary action, no slow motion, no abusing at all, no screeching background music.....but only easy-to-understand dialouges in hindi, urdu, persian, English language, that too in low, serious pitch and how well and almost perfectly they exposed the British policy of India's economic exploitation.

I have watched this episode of BEK multiple times, only to admire the acting excellence of Amrish Puri. His dialogue delivery, enunciation and the portrayal of haplessness of a junior officer with some sense of righteousness being slowly dissolved away by the absolute corruption at the top is unique and is something that one doesn't always find in his bigger screen roles. I think Shyam Benegal really know what he wanted of this character and got Amrish to fill it in very masterfully.

This is one of the best serials produced by Doordarshan. Great direction, acting and dialogues. 'Discovery of India', on which it is based, was written by Nehru ji when he was in jail, and he studied Indian history in-depth for that.
