Maggie noodles,rusk/ toast,ghee,coconut oil,even Indian spices are available in the german supermarkets like edeka,Rewe etc. Edeka even Stores fresh coriander leaves in their open freezer / fresh salad section. After staying in Europe for 4 years,I can suggest that to buy majority of your thermals from H&M or C&A as the fabric is apt for European winters. You forgot to add that on Sundays most shops/ restaus are closed.
@BharatinGermany7 жыл бұрын
I have in mind a separate video for German supermarkets. Thanks a lot for your information about the coriander leaves and other things! I have been living in Germany just for a year and I, of course, don't know everything. Every single bit of information helps!

Nice video Bharat, my son moved to hamburg this January after completing his language (B2) from Bochum. He is a student at Hamburg University (studienkolleg) now, he is missing paneer (Indian Cheese) which is hardly available there.
@BharatinGermany7 жыл бұрын
Hi Harwinder! :D Awesome to know that he is doing his Studienkolleg now. I actually was looking for somebody who can help me document the Bachelors process in Germany. Let me know if he would be interested in that. About Paneer... it is tough but we make it at home the traditional way whenever we find time. The food, in general, is what I extremely miss about India.

Hm the only "indian" supermarkets I know are actually Tamil Sri Lankan Supermarkets. But I only buy big bottles of Gingerbeer...and Mixture. Also most of the shops with saries also offer to tailor fit blouses. Oh ya...for girls these shops are full of whitening creames...wich allways strucks me, as it looks to me like someone is totally self hating. And you should actually NOT bring antibiotics to Germany! You can allways see a doctor. It's called Notdienst. There has allways be a doctor to treat you in place of your house doctor. Also hospitals don't close. Apothecaries also have a Notdienst that is open on Sundays and Hollydays. No problem.

Nice video 👍🏻. Personally, I found many Indian pantry staples in Lidl or rewe and they are much cheaper! For example instead of getting maida from Indian store I buy "weizenmehl 405" from Lidl and that's about €0.40 and it's exactly the same! Similarly corn flour (we use for pakoras ) is speisestärke . Samolina (Suji) is Grießmehl and there are 3 types of Grießmehl a very coarse one, a medium one and really fine one .And for Indian cooking I think the medium one is perfect! And there are a lot of other german substitutes that are very cheap when compared to what we buy at the Indian store :) Just a little curiosity and experimentation helps ! Btw make a video about a visit to Turkish Shops and I guess it will help others a lot because personally I find many useful things there too ;)

Learn to eat German food - it is as simple as that . There are Indians who have been living since 1945 . German stores have staples which we can eat It is easy to make paneer at home - we can get lemon and milk in the German grocery .

There are also pharmacies that have emergency services, there you can get drugs when all other pharmacies are closed.

Nice video! thank you for it! :) Just the part with the antibiotics is not a good suggestion. Antibiotics should never be taken without medical supervision. Not doing so is one of the causes for the huge antibiotic resistance problem that we are facing today!
@BharatinGermany7 жыл бұрын
I understand your opinion but I guess you also know that in India, the first thing that doctors give us when we get sick is either Erithromycin or Amoxycillin whenever the throat starts hurting, coughing or you have some cold, for fever they always use paracetamol. I'm completely aware about the antibiotic resistance problem and how if this trend goes on, antibiotics would actually be rendered useless but we are used to it now, or at least I am. That's why it was a suggestion. :D Well, thanks for your comment and stay in touch! Looking forward to more honest opinions in the future! :)
@nikhilprabhu4867 жыл бұрын
True, but just because it is common practice doesn't make it right. I guess if we are aware of the problem we should do something towards it, not just for people's sake but at least your own. Imagine getting infected by a super bug! 2 million people worldwide get affected by them every year! I am not suggesting that you stop taking antibiotics right? Just by taking care that the dosage, duration and type of antibiotic be decided by a doctor we could desist from contributing to this menace. Also, antibiotics are stressful on the body and cause major side effects, hence medical supervision is extremely important. For this and other reasons every antibiotic carries a warning that it should be prescribed only by a medical practitioner. Do give this a read - ecdc.europa.eu/en/eaad/antibiotics-get-informed/key-messages/Pages/self-medication-general-public.aspx I request that you edit that part out of the video. Thanks! :)
@JG-lv1wq7 жыл бұрын
Nikhil Prabhu Hi, I understand your point of view but I kind of agree with Bharat on this. I have been living in Germany for over 2 years now and it's very tough to get an doctor's appointment for small ailments like flu, cough or fever etc . So it is always better to have some basic medicines , bandages and pain relief sprays with you . Of course you can get some very basic medicines from the Apotheke but from my experience it's not enough !
@BharatinGermany7 жыл бұрын
Of course, it doesn't make it alright but I will not edit that part of the video out because I would still suggest to bring some antibiotics with yourself from India for extreme cases, but I will put your name with your suggestion in the "Suggestions by Subscribers" part in the video description. :)
