Very slow production of the Dhanush system. Just 1 regiment operational. Criminal incompetence.

We need to get rid of this PSUs. L&T was able to deliver K9 Vajra is record time and Dhanush ( Tech transfer from bofors) was lying in cold storage of the ordinance factory for 30 years and now they can’t even deliver one regiment in so many years- bring in L&T, Kalyani and Tatas
@repealsection230forbigtech4 Жыл бұрын
Especially Kalyani & L&T

Very comprehensive and informative session, thank you. One area that was not covered was our plans/capabilities on smaller caliber guns and their utility or lack thereof like Kalyani's 105mm soft recoil truck mounted gun. It seems like these would be quite useful in mountains where longer range is not always at a premium but shoot and scoot is.

Precision strike and high mobility should be the main focus. Artillery are now extremely vulnerable to UAV. K-9 from Korea and light vehicles mounted with mortar with good artillery calculations would work wonders.

When will artillery officially called a "combat" arm rather than a "support" arm?

Where do we stand on 1. Rocket force. 2. HIMARS. 3. Mounted guns system. 4. Wheeled artillery 5. Wheeled combat vehicles. Why no discussion on these?
@007skumarajay2 жыл бұрын
Because we don't get lots of commission. We can't procure from abroad. Unless we test each system for ten years and find fault or change specification then we will import it from abroad

That artillery will always be a battle influencing factor in any war has now been accepted by all militaries. We need to go in a big way for enhanced range weapon and ammunition systems, UAV's (both recce and weaponised), loitering munitions, rocket systems. Not to forget our ability for speedy and accurate acquisition and engagement capabilities. I guess our senior gunners are well seized of this thought process And one more thing. As gunners, we need to ensure that our traditions, ethos, past history-- all that we have imbibed in the past two centuries are not diluted because of temporary political pressures. Recollect the furore over the unecessary and illogical 'kasam parade' done by an over exubherant commandant in the Artillery Center some time back.

Sir, with all due respect did the divulging of numbers related to sensitive defense equipment is not compromising the Operational Security (OpSec) ?

Does not look like these two seniors have learnt anything from Azerbejan war or from Ukraine war. Why can not they use simple UAV for target locating purpose. You can not use WL Radars everywhere, however UAV could be used all terrain and is much cheaper.

Even while we speak in glowing terms of reaching more than 37.5 kms with MBRL weapons, the Pakistan Army has rockets that cover 120 kms and 150 kms. the A100 E and the Fateh - 1. Even with extended ammunition, we have nothing close to i.

May b Defense equipment details should be the top secret of a Nation especially in the case of India . No other Country in the World talks about it's arsenal . It's shocking to see that what shud be extremely classified is being publically broadcasted . Think about it's impact .
@narasimhasri96882 жыл бұрын
Nothing. These days satellite information is so accurate that you can see a rock lying on ground. Do you think the other side don't know what is being deployed? Those days it can be used as a tactic because such surveillance systems are not there. It's not about what we have. It's all about how you use them and our army knows very well..
