This is a really cool style of blind, as well as the traditional ML deer hunt

Congrats Bob! I went to the Sam Houston NF this weekend. I set up in a creek bottom where hogs had rooted around so much it looked like someone had been there with a plow...and didn't see squat. But the weather was perfect and I went home refreshed and happy.

Often that is enough isn't it? I love to get in the stand an hour before first light, and my old Pop says, "You don't have to get out there that early, boy", but for me that's half the point....

Bob Congrats on the button buck!!!! I didn't have a lot of time to hunt this year. My CVA Kodiak stayed silent this season even the few times I did go out.

I love hunting big game. Work begins after the shot as far as cleaning , butchering and wrapping...........

Me too and yes sir it does. I do all my own processing and I love every minute of it. My first two deer all go to Jerky!
@montanamountainmen61044 жыл бұрын
@@BlackPowderTV I hear that. We normal get 2 or 3 deer a year and do our own as well. One deer gets the grinder as for burger , the other gets butchered ....... Wife loves the burger she says its so much more versatile for cooking at times.

No worries there Bob...the “doe” I got during last years traditional flintlock season here in PA was a button buck. Had the same reaction as you when I got up on it. That was a long shot and Allen Martin doesn’t put scopes on his smoke poles so it’s harder to distinguish gender. Lol. Great video. Keep em coming.

Great shootin' Bob! I ain't the least bit bothered by not seeing the "kill" footage. And I enjoyed the heck out of seeing your dad come out and help. Between work and rain I didn't manage to make it out for the OK ML season. But our rifle season (and my vacation) starts Saturday and goes for 2 weeks. I may try to take the .45 Bedford out and see if I can't bag a few... Nice thing is I can take my 300 WM along too for longer shots. Lol

Great video Bob. I also am not bothered without the kill shot (although it would have been nice). Keep them coming and send a package of that jerky my way!
@BlackPowderTV4 жыл бұрын
Count on a package in the mail. Are you a hot jerky guy or more a hickory or mesquite guy?

Glad to see you got one ... I shot a buck here in Manchester today found a pile of blood tracked it for 70 and the blood just stopped ... It makes me sick I just had got into black powder this would have been 1 buck with traditional ML I don't get it just makes me sick .. but congrats to you

Are you the same guy I saw on the muzzleloading forum telling that story? I read it earlier and it sounded familiar. That sucks, sorry to hear that.

What's that little halo thing around your head in your stand? I've never used one of those. My stand is about 12 years old. Is that pretty easy to install? I don't know if I could handle hunting in TN. I think I would have died and gone to heaven. I don't think me and Kedir have ever dragged a deer across ground that level. LOL. We wouldn't know how to hunt that. We are used to dragging deer up some super steep hill. Good video Bobby. I've been a little lax getting on You Tube as of late.
@BlackPowderTV4 жыл бұрын
It's a big piece of PEX piping that we strapped to the tree and tie up with a rope. It gives us a view gap with the camo hanging from it and allows us to stand up after our butts go to sleep after 3 hours in the stand and still give us some camo. Standing we can see over it right at eye level. That stand is an all day stand on a main path of our local deer from their beds to their feeds. That's about as flat a drag as I've had. Most deer come out from the right side of the stand and run off down hill....

I have a "plastic" snow sled to drag a deer out but I see you have a 4 wheeler thats better the sled is so much better then dragging it by hand.
@BlackPowderTV4 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea. Usually I'm dragging a deer 30 yards anyway. I should get a plastic sled and just keep it by the stand. Thanks!
