You are correct in your assessment that children are assholes. In 2nd grade I got in trouble and was sent to stand in the corner by the door until I was ready to rejoin the rest of the class. Like 5 minutes later some kid I hated was running out of the door so I tripped him and told the teacher I was on my way to rejoin the class and he just so happened to run by as I stuck my leg out. I got away with it.

Fun fact about El Tigre: the last episode was originally gonna have Manny becoming a villain, but most likely because of studio interference they left it up to a poll and the majority vote was for Manny to be a hero. You can actually find the cut ending with villain Manny
@ASloppyJoe Жыл бұрын
Honestly don't understand why that was the plan, throughout the entire show Manny only does heroic things (not counting the trouble he causes which is less "I might be a supervillain someday" and more just being a dumb kid with an influential grandfather), only fights villains, always learns The Lesson Of The Episode, you get the gist.

- Making Fiends had SOOOO much potential to be a heavy hitter! No other Nicktoon was screwed over as hard as Making Fiends by Nickelodeon, and the worst part is Amy Winfrey can't even continue the web series as Nickelodeon owns the copyright and are content to let it rot in their vault. - Catscratch was a hilarious show and I miss it, It also deserved better. - Mr. Meaty was defiantly weird AF but I enjoyed it. The puppets themselves weren't creepy and the show was pretty entertaining at times. - El Tigre was a fun show too, I like that Manny wasn't a happy go lucky moral compass, (we have too many of those in animation as it is) I like that him and Freyda were accurate representations of how actual kids act as it made them feel more realistic. - Season 4 of SpongeBob is just as god as seasons 1-3, Season 6 was the beginning of the end tho. - The Penguins of Madagascar was fine I guess, I mostly had it on as background noise.

Like, a kid's superhero show where his family cycles between heroes and villains each generation, and he should be destined to be a villain, and that's actually allowed to be a real possibility? And on top of that making him share a namesake with the family's first super who was also super torn between heroism and villainy? That's such brilliant writing.

@magnetoonproductions9541 Жыл бұрын
Here are my thoughts: - Catscratch is the most hilarious Nicktoon I’ve ever seen. It could’ve been the next SpongeBob or Looney Tunes, but stupid Nickelodeon pulled the plug. - From what I’ve heard, Making Fiends was originally a series of webtoons and when they canned the show, the creator wasn’t allowed to make more of them. - El Tigre was a solid series and after rewatching it, it makes me feel bad about complaining about it years ago. - Mr. Meaty is without a doubt, the best puppet show since Between the Lions and it really helped shape my style of humor and storytelling. Too bad the series lost its identity in the second season and changed it into a generic teen sitcom that was full of stupid life lessons and rewrote most of their characters. - The Penguins of Madagascar is living proof that the penguins can really stand well on their own, but the real star of the show is the man, the myth, the legend…KING JULIEN! You can never go wrong with King Julien.

Honestly I feel like if Nickelodeon were to _ever_ remember Making Fiends, they could probably go the Samurai Jack route and have the next season be for Nick @ Nite, just so they can be able to delve into the darker themes and tones that the web series episodes kinda went for (like referring to the giant kitty as "yon hellcat" instead of "yon fiendcat"), maybe even an episode where Charlotte comes to the conclusion that her parents are legit dead, I dunno… There actually are fully-written scripts for a 7-episode 2nd season, though it truthfully doesn't seem likely they'll ever see the light of day. Same for the planned merchandise items, too (besides the DVDs and T-shirts); There was a Charlotte voodoo plush, except her head was replaced with a slot where you could instead place a picture of someone, and one of those Russian doll toys where there's a bunch of smaller ones inside a big one (this one had Grudge first, then Vendetta, a generic fiend, and Buttons 2). I was also a Tibbitt-era kid for SpongeBob stuff. I think watching that was the first time that I realized newer episodes were being made of stuff, and that these didn't all just exist right outta the gate; I think it was "Toy Store of Doom" that I had the epiphany… I had a few compilation DVDs of SpongeBob, and only Absorbing Favorites was the one that had anything from the first 3 seasons. The rest were "Atlantis SquarePantis", "Spongicus", and "To SquarePants or Not To SquarePants", though I don't remember that one having that cover. I also have a few mandela memories of a few of those episodes; Pest of the West, I remember Patrick's song where he warns about Dead-Eye Plankton, ending with a slightly faster tempo, and the guys that sing the last line popping up from either below or to the right of the screen, accompanied with the sound of people quickly getting off of their stools, or something. And then during the second verse of the song "Idiot Friends", I seem to remember a faint slide whistle noise for whenever Patrick would rise from below the screen. And then Picture Day, I remember that episode ending with a quick zoom-in on SpongeBob's photograph. Also I got this song as an ad, during the part where you were talking about Mr. Meaty's musical episode? It appears to use the same lava lamp background at one point, so I think that has something to do with it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnWYoYyKfMpssNk

Post-first movie SpongeBob can get really REALLY good sometimes, namely Season 4, which sometimes feels like a bit of a holdover from the first 3 seasons. Some of my favorite episodes are Krusty Towers, Fear of a Krabby Patty, Shell of a Man, Whale of a Birthday, The Lost Mattress, Skill Crane, Krabs Vs. Plankton, Selling Out, Ghost Host, Mrs. Puff You’re Fired, Have You Seen This Snail?, and Good Neighbors. (Yes, I even like this one too because it’s one of the only Squidward torture episodes that I feel doesn’t go *too* far and Squidward’s rage in the episode is genuinely funny thanks to the delivery and expressions he pulls off and the fact that his rage is actually pretty justified)

Also Making Fiends was one of my favorite shows as a kid and to learn it was so short a while ago looking it up I was shocked. Thanks for highlighting it, El Tigre, and Cat Scratch.

Hell YESSSSSSS I *LOVED* El Tigre! I totally agree that it was fun seeing Manny be a main character that got into trouble-- not so much so because he was a bad person but because kids can be little bastards. I loved that as a kid and it made him and Frida more relatable for sure.

I've just reached the end of the El Tigre segment and gotta say i'm loving this video. I remembered watching quite a bit of Catscratch as a kid but that show basically vanished from my conscious memory until a few years ago when I was doing some house cleaning and came across an old McDonalds Waffle toy. I also have what I think is an El Tigre McDonald's toy that I have on a shelf in my room, these shows deserve to be more talked about (especially El Tigre imo cause Jorge is a fantastic creator). I'll be surprised if Mighty B isn't mentioned in this video. Edit: Mighty B mentioned, good 2:10:00 And there's the aforementioned Waffle toy 2:18:30 And the aforementioned El Tigre toy

So to sum up: El Tigre and Spongebob Seasons 4/5 is exactly as good as I remember, Making Fiends wasn't a figment of my imagination and was too good for this world, The Penguins of Madagascar was just a little bit worse than I remember, and Catscratch/Mr. Meaty apparently exist, but only arguably. Sounds about right. And yes, I'm just as mad about the Making Fiends thing; it's actually terrible to hear what happened there.

I remember absolutely loving Making Fiends but it always creeped me out as a child and I never knew why because the art isn’t creepy or anything. This video made it make sense for me lol

look man, im sure so many people have said this, but your popularity you are getting so deserved, and idk maybe its anecdotal but i think you've really got yourself a solid, loyal fan base. you are like, a voice for the voiceless right now. like, the post irony of youtube reviewers, like me, like a lot of the older gen Zers, (21/22), you really get what we have all been tryna communicate to "normal" people for so long bro, like seriously.

That's too bad about Cat Scratch. I remember liking it. Making Fiends ruled! I remember when it was a Flash web series and was so happy to see Nick picked it up. It always makes me smile to see Amy Winfrey in credits. Edit: (after watching the actual segment) Oh. Man, Viacom sucks. Edit: "Did he just say 'I am so L337' like it's 2006?" Oh, sweetie. Try 1986.

I relate so much to watching reruns of old shows as if they were new. My favorite shows on Nickelodeon were reruns of older shows that I would always stay up late to watch and treat like they were premiering for the first time.

Honestly the way I remember a cartoon or film that have been forgotten for years is if it got a fast food kids meal toy, was an avid collector of those when I was younger.

Putting both an entire catscratch analysis and the spongebob hemppance theme song has thrown me on an entire loop. The d&d episode of spongebob is goated, just behind karate and the extended atlantis jawn. God bless this video tbh

Making Fiends was so good. It reminds me a bit of Secret Saturdays as far as shows that go cancelled and then kinda disappeared. It is nice to see Pearl episodes, that's probably why I like the episode Whale Watching so much. Pearl and Squidward interacting and bonding is so fun. It's nice to see characters outside of Spongebob and how they intereact sometimes. It's nice to have variety. Like having good, moral characters and trouble-making ones. Both are okay. Mr. Meaty freaked me out though. I like puppets, but this was too much. It's too puppety for me. I can appreatiate the effort, but there's just something I can't get behind.
