Kurudvadi was interesting Junction. I guess the NG section was much busier than the BG. The Line from Miraj used to get over the BG just after the BG platforms on the pune side and then almost turn a semi-circle and terminate to a T to BG line. One would have required to walk some distance to find the NG terminus. It was visible from the BG Platforms. Would say the NG side was a terminus. The other line to Latur and Barsi used to just take right starting from the terminus. I think if there was a service from Miraj to Latur, I guess it would require a local reversal at Kurdvadi. Kurdvadi also a had Sprawling NG loco workshop. Infact the NG was still active at early 2010. The station is marked on wikimapia and below is a beautiful picture of the Kurudvadi NG terminus. The BG line upto Barsi for a good bit runs a new course away from the NG alignment. The old NG alignment ran close to the highway and then enter the Barsi town bang in the Middle. The newer BG skims past the Barsi town outskirts and then merging with the old Alignment after the Barsi. Similarly the Old NG would completely miss Osmanabad and run to Yedshi, Where as the BG would take a detours via Osmanabad and then merge after Yedshi. Ghatprabha is one of the biggest tributory to Krishna like mighty Bhima river . Krishna gets wider after both the rivers join Krishna river on north and south side respectively west of Almatti dam. Ghatprabha is known for Gokak waterfalls located near Gokak town and another river Malaprabha joins Ghatprabha to make big river. However another triver tributory Tungabhadra is the river as wide as Krishna near Hospeta town joins Krishna in down stream. All the rivers are all tamed by huge dams like Koyna, Bhimasagar, Almatti, Dandeli, Hosadurga, Nagarjunasagar, Srisailam and Prakasam barrage etc. All the North karnataka railway lines like Hubli, Hotgi, Vijayapura, Kurduvadi Miraj etc are all part of Krishna river like South Marathwada region. Fabulous journey Avinash,explored this route in the day for the first,explored lot of new stations which I used to hear about,one thing I would like highlight that during british government miraj- latur used to be NG line,it was converted to BG in last 5 years and extended upto Latur road which further goes to Telangana Hyderabad

Krishna River is much longer than ghataprabha! Ghataprabha originates from Hidkal Resevoir in Hosur. Krishna and Ghataprabha together form a huge reservoir ahead near Bagalkot...at Almatti and then cotinue further ahead as only Krishna River. Infact Ghataprabha can be referred to as a tributary of Krishna River!
