I have gotten best results with the moka by putting already hot water in the bottom, screwing it together with a kitchen towel to shield me from the heat and then using it as normal. Basically, I just microwave the water I need till it is close to boiling. I find the less time the coffee grounds spend over the stove getting heated up in the moka pot far fewer objectionable flavors are pulled out of them. That method plus some microwaved milk and a motorized wand to froth it makes quite an acceptable fake latté when I don't have the time to deal with my pavoni.

I am happy this works for you! I have tried this moka pot hack: pouring hot water into my moka pot, but I found the coffee tastes more on the burnt side than if I start it cold and on medium heat. Regardless, I think it’s a great way to make your coffee faster - I really don’t have the patience to watch it for 5 minutes! Haha 😂 👍🫣

@@AlleCeambur It's really interesting you are getting that effect. I should add I am putting it on gas at a very gentle setting where it probably isn't even meeting the edge of the pot. I can only guess but maybe with the electric plate you have the radiant heat from all the overlap, but you would have that regardless. It's interesting, there must be some thermal explanation for your result. Aluminium is a great conductor, the hot water gets the pot hot pretty much immediately and then the radiant heat. Maybe in your setup the grounds are actually exposed to a higher peak heat longer than the cold start. Another thing worth timing is when you pull the pot off the heat. Once it really starts coming up through the neck with intensity it really doesn't matter if it stays on the burner.

@@kcb5150 I think I definitely need to use it more to find the proper temperature for my coffee not to taste overly burnt. So far, I am not able to get a consistent result. Every cup tastes different- even at the same heat setting and using the same beans.

In the beginning of the video you showed a 1 cup MokaPot but you made the video with a 3 cup 😋honestly I've tried 1 cup and 2 cups and never got a good result {they are not practical in life, maybe with a very very small fire they would work, but in real life with stoves people use the surface/fire is too big for 1 and 2 cups}

Hi! Yes I bought both the 1 cup and 3cup Bialetti moka pot. The 3 cup actually makes 2 cups only so I use that one most often. The 1 cup is too small, so I kept it as a souvenir. I don’t think it’s the most practical, but it makes good coffee.

so I'm not alone! 😋 I also use the 3 pot only. But I get 3 cups (~135 cc out of it)(but I pour 160cc in, and only 10cc is left behind in the bottom) I use a gas stove and I played with the heat that many times till I got the right flame size for it. They say still majority of people in Italy (at home) make coffee with a Mokapot. I wonder if they too, find a 1 cup and 2 cup impractical generally. Those two sizes would require a very very small heat source (fire) to work properly.@@AlleCeambur
