For me, one of the strengths of Leonard Lewis' tenure as EastEnders producer was how well new characters were 'seeded' into Albert Square- there wasn't a big fanfare, no inconsistent retcons, they were gradually introduced as anybody new moving into a community would be. The introduction of the Jackson family is one of the best from the 90s- in a few lines of dialogue, we quickly understand the characters of Bianca, Carol and Alan and the way they interact with the others.
