This has made me realize that it is not enough just to read the word, you have to study it to understand and remember what is read.

Yep! AND, it's not always easy, but it's also not as complicated as we've thought, or as others have said or made it seem. Truly spending time with God, truly reading the Word as Him speaking. I am so glad you're here ❤️

First off, wow. I don't think Ive ever seen anyone truly ask so many questions! I loved that! 22:04 Chap 15 starts with Jesus absolutely going off on the religious leaders of the day. Eventually saying that their lives and teaching are a lie and the are blind. When trying to communicate this truth to the disciples, they really dont get it. In many ways I think Jesus is trying to let us know that the disciples don't completely get it either. It then abruptly goes to the woman asking for help, pleading for help, he ignores her, his disciples ask him to send her away! She humbles herself and pleads, he rudely says no, completely writing her off. SHE then says yes! Tells him why he is wrong and Jesus instants grants the help she needs and calls her faith great. I think its a message that sometimes those who we think speak for God are going to be wrong, dismissive, rude, hypocritical and perhaps even wicked. If the voice that you are being told is from God, but you don't think It's God's true voice... you question it, you stand up for yourself/ for truth... and the real voice of God will hear you and be amazed by you. This woman and her child are never to be told they are like Dogs, or less than. And If that is the voice you hear, it is not God. Ask again, or you tell them the truth!

I was confused because I thought it was the same miracle. This resonated with me so much because of how much God showed up for me - especially back in my college days - when I had little to no money.

Hi Kaela, thank you for another great study. So much great info in Matthew 15. My notes had Matthew 12:34 regarding the “heart”. “You brood of vipers, (I love how Jesus speaks to the Pharisees 😅) how can you are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.” (NIV)
@hiswordmywalk8 ай бұрын
You are so welcome. If we slow down, I really believe we can get more of what was really happening. Like how Jesus spoke to the Pharisees 😉. And then sometimes I have to be like, "Ohhhh... did I just act like a Pharisee too?" 😬 I am so glad you're here!

I've been thinking about the boat...maybe one of the reasons He was in a boat a lot was simply that was a huge mode of transportation. He wasn't going to hop into his Toyota 😂, so He got into the trusty boats. Thoughts?
@hiswordmywalk7 ай бұрын
That's a fair thought. In many situations I'm sure it's transportation. Some instances, think about the surrounding land and even how sound travels 😉

For a long time I did not understand how they weren’t honoring their parents. I just didn’t understand what Jesus was saying, so I’d just keep reading without understanding. Now I get it. I guess it could be anything a parent needed maybe even food and withholding it from their parents would not be honoring God.

What came to me was the Gentile woman was a believer she said even a dog is allowed to eat scraps from his Master's table. A believer's Master is God.

Isn’t it amazing how the word of God calms you down. Whether we completely understand everything or not, I just feel better. Finding that writing verses down helps the message stay with me. Thank you for all the curiosity which brings clarity. Understanding helps us utilize the information - Go boldly! Amen 🙏

@hiswordmywalk8 ай бұрын
Oh I love that! I feel like I want to reference the 4000 all the time and see how often others try to correct me and say, "No, it was 5000" lol. 😉
@Cyndrome117 ай бұрын
Curious 👀 !! In chapter 14, he feeds 5000 with five loaves and two fish and chapter 15 He feeds 4000 with seven loaves and two fish. I like to think God documented this twice to remind us that he sees our need and his promise to supply our needs is seen here.

That’s great! I wonder how many more times Jesus did a similar miracle in those 3 years that didn’t get recorded too ☺️

I agree. This is the same Bible. God's infallible Word. I believe looking with fresh perspective can help growth in our relationship with God. It's actually nothing new, it's just maybe even a different personality to read and chat about it ☺️

No parent (assuming no mental health issues) is going to kill their child because they are disrespected by that child. So, are we not following the word of God in this way...putting our traditions and beliefs ahead of God's word? This is not a troll question. I’ve always wondered and hoping for some insight.
@hiswordmywalk7 ай бұрын
I have been looking for your comment for days. I have wanted to reply, to give you some tools and insight. Because I GET IT! I didn't see you as a 'troll' at all ☺️ In our day today it's often hard to understand words we read in the Bible because we read them often like we read everything; with our own lens, with what we understand from our culture, but when we read the Bible, we have to know the context which means who wrote it, who were they writing to, who spoke, who were they speaking to, when/where... all the things in order to try to understand. There are also times in the Bible that the writer is describing what happened or what life was like, not prescribing how we should live (remembering this is true history). Think "DESCRIPTION vs PRESCRIPTION". Ok I've gone on and on, but seriously I was scouring for your comment to reply. Using a resource like a commentary can help with that cultural understanding of the time. Here's a free online one I recommend. Here's the link to Matthew chapter 15 and if you scroll through, you'll see some pretty interesting insight about these verses. I really hope this helps and gives you some clarity 🙏🏻 enduringword.com/bible-commentary/matthew-15/

@@hiswordmywalk@hiswordmywalk Thank you so much for your extraordinary effort to find and answer my question. I will follow the resource you suggested. I know Jesus led me to you. For reasons stemming from my childhood, I'd walked away from God, believing there can't be a God! A few weeks ago, I was struggling with a very painful experience, I was feeling so lost and afraid. My heart cried out, "Jesus-God if you are real, please just show me a sign...please!" The next day, I found my Bible was pulled slightly out from the other books in my bookcase. As I was pushing it back where it belonged, I heard a calling to take it off the shelf. I asked, "Jesus, are you real? Is God real? Am I supposed to read something in particular? I don't know what to do. My heart is broken, and I'm truly lost." I then had a powerful feeling/calling to read, The Book of Matthew!!! The feeling I had while reading was of warmth and a sense of being held. The very next day, your video came up on my KZbin feed (!!), Bible Study With Me In A Fresh Way: Matthew 1...I've read the book twice and watch your videos every morning! Thank you so much for sharing your gifts. I'm not scared anymore. I want to know Jesus and read his Word. Kaela. ❤🙏
