The 1560 Geneva Bible - First Edition Facsimile from The Bible Museum is a facsimile of the first edition Geneva Bible. It includes the Apocrypha. It's ideal as a display piece for any home, office, or church. It's available in regular (hardcover) and deluxe (genuine leather) editions. I'm reviewing the regular edition in burgundy hardcover.

I have the 1560 Geneva Bible facsimile from Hendrickson. It took me a few hours to get used to the typesetting and nonstandard spelling, but now I can read it like any other Bible I own. Mine has the same images. I bought it to own a piece of history, but then decided to use it, so it is showing signs of wear. There is a 1599 Geneva Bible with modern typesetting and standardized spelling. I’m thinking about getting that one too.

I didn't know that it had maps and illustrations. Thats really cool. It was basically the first study bible.

@@James777921it was the first printed in Roman text rather than blackletter gothic and the first with verse numbers but wasn't the first in English.

Thank you for this review. You just saved me from a very unhappy purchase, as you showed the illegible page immediately preceding Ecclesiastes [5:08 into video]. I have the Hendrickson edition of the Geneva 1560, andf I have not seen a single page that is illegible like this edition you review. The reason I was interested in this edition, is because it preports to be enlarged to 125% text size to the original text size at 100%.

Perhaps you might like the 120 book LSV Bible, has the apocryphal texts as well as authentically discovered Enoch and others.

If it's scripture that one is quite familiar with such as Creation in the book of Genesis or Sermon on the Mount in the book of Mathew maybe (just tossing something out there), you get a good grasp of the nature the alphabet, spelling and sentence structure of the time. In that sense, I find it a fun if not fascinating read. The same goes for the 1611 KJV. As a layman Thessalonian who loves to poke around bible history, the Bible Museum is offering a great service at a very affordable price.

One example is they took a few shots at certain people. For example, they spoke against the monarchy, which caused King James to speak against it and prompted him to authorize another translation with fewer notes.
