The question is do you have to reconcile with people? Can you say you know what I for give you but there's no way to have a relationship of any kind moving forward.

Reconciliation and forgiveness are different. Forgiveness doesn’t need their repentance as she said, but reconciliation does. People need to change and show evidence of change in order to meet the standard of trustworthiness. We’re called to be reconciled to God through our own repentance and belief in Jesus, and to live peacefully with all, not repaying evil for evil, but… We’re also commanded to have no fellowship with darkness and to treat someone like a tax collector if they don’t repent. After all; “Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭15:33‬ ‭ Some people will not change, but will tear you down if they possibly can and corrupt your walk with God.

hi virginia, bless you for your love.well,i need help w/having to constantly forgive a father who is always verbally abusive to my 91 yr.old mother w/severe depression and alzhiemers and to me.too w/no sign of repentance anytime soon.i pray everyday that god might touch his heart and i also pray for a forgiving heart for myself. i forgive him daily out of my love for christ.but as soon as i do he starts up w/my mom.we have talked about his past but he is unwilling to deal w/it.need some insight.

Here is my pickle, my dad caused a lot of pain in my brother’s and I young life that turned us resentful and bitter. Through God I’m healing and dealing with the past that I pushed away but kept me resentful. I have made the decision to forgive and he wants to but now I have 3 beautiful innocent daughters, knowing my dad’s destructive physical potential should I allow him around my kids at least to see them? What does scripture say or what can be interpreted that would clear my thoughts and still make me feel I doing gods will. Intense season for me.
