This is a quick review of the Bic Cristal Exact. You can find them here: amzn.to/3A2MJ1j if you are having trouble locating them.
While I'm glad this pen exists, it's not really worth tracking down as it's not much different from a standard ballpoint from, say, PaperMate or Pilot. I much prefer the Xtra Bold (1.6 mm): amzn.to/3zGQppd

No matter how many pens I own or have tried, I always end up full circle back to Bic. I love the 1.0 Cristal Xtra Smooth and recently rediscovered the M10. I remember seeing those in the 1970's. Kinda sad they're no longer marketed in the U.S.

When I was a kid, there were crystal Bics which were medium, and the orange or yellow body Bic which was fine. When a crystal Bic got down to the last 1/5 of its ink supply, it wrote gloriously and I always mourned the demise of the pen.

From what I can tell, the orange-bodied ones (marked "Accountant's Fine Point" when I was a kid) are .8mm, a smidgen wider than the Exact. I still love the Cristal, though.

@@herbcraven7146 I prefer using the orange bodied ones to the ultra fine, the ink doesn't seem to glob on the paper as much for some weird reason

Thanks for great videos! My current daily pen is Atlantis X-smooth (ultra glide), in terms if writing it is fantastic with beautiful blue ink color, but for drawing it is not recommended. I have also Bic Atlantis classic, the color and the smoothness is the same as Bic Cristal classic. I think Bic Atlantis is among the best in terms of quality and grip comfort while affordable.

I recently tried needle tip gel refills and I'm starting to like them. Usually I go for the widest 1.0-1.6mm. I'd be interested to try this since I've never tried a ballpoint needle tip. The regular cristal is my brother's favourite, so even if i don't like it, he can finish the pack.

Good stuff man thanks to you i have some good pens/pencils to use now. (Just got a Rotring 600 mechanical pencil btw) i really like it. It has a nice weight to it & feels like quality & spectacular grip aa well where you hold it to write. Thanks for the entertainment and sharing your pen knowledge. I alway like and comment now when i see you sent out a new vid or at the very least I’ll like it.

When it comes to ballpoint pens, I prefer needlepoint tips. I was excited to see Paper Mate Inkjoy ballpoints offered in a needlepoint as well! I use my Cristal Exact refills in both my Baux and ēnsso Aria machined pens and my BIC ReNew. Thanks for the video!

In addition to my earlier comment... I prefer and recommend the Paper Mate Inkjoy Ultra Fine 0.5 mm to the Cristal Exact Fine Point 0.7 mm pens for two reasons which are important to note: (1) the barrel is thicker making it feel more comfortable to grip and (2) the ink goes down considerably smoother, noticeably less drag while writing. Also, the line left by the needlepoint tips leave less or unnoticeable railroading.

Not sure you could help me… I’m an illustrator that likes to use Bic cristal pens to shade with. The pressure variation with an oil-based rollerball pen can be similar to shading with a pencil. But I would love to find a way to hack the bic multicolor pens to mix the inks and create different colors. Could you recommend a way of doing this? I suspect buying a syringe with a larger gauge to extract the bic inks would be a start, then find a way to mix them up and reconstitute it back into the pen tube. Just curious if you could recommend/suggest something before I go experiment. Thanks

I haven’t tried to but bic does sell many colors in the cristal. Perhaps you can extract, mix, and and refill. I’d be concerned w bubbles etc but could work

@@unsharpen Much thanks! Do you have a recommendation for cleaning the ink out of a Bic nib? I want to be able to reset the pens with new colors as easy as possible.

Somehow BIC never worked for me. I`m a lefty and it always was the ink that didn`t flow as good. Also BIC dried up very fast. Don`t know if they changed anything on their formula, haven`t bought one for like 20 years now.

I’d revisit the cristal 1.6mm. It a bit smudgy for a lefty but still wonderful
