The plastic version SpaceOmatic or Cap O Matic have certainly gone up in price. Cheapest I can find at the end of 2024 is $16. Worth it still though.

I have a Lamy studio. It doesn’t have the grip that people adore, but it is more substantial. Mine came with a converter.
@unsharpen16 сағат бұрын
Yes the studio is a great value. I spent a lot of time with one before adjusting to the Safari grip.

Best take away for me would be the periodic use of alcohol wipes as a maintenence step for all BP's. Cheap,easy, and may prevent future issues. But, sometimes you get bad apples, nothing works..so be it! The ball itself might be the culprit. "...the fire destroyed the kitchen area,owner said to have been trying to reactivate ballpoint pen with blowtorch. Alcohol was a factor. In other news...."

Back in 2017 when everyone was getting into fidget spinners as a new 'thing', or fad, I had one just to see what they were all about.. i'm not adhd so my attention isnt drawn to stuff that keeps my hands busy like that... The bearings were stainless steel and started to go out after sitting for a bit.. Very crunchy... Not well made... So I went on Amazon and got a pair of 2 608 ZR02 full ceramic bearings by VXB, for $10, and the thing would spin super fast and for quite a long time. I was very impressed what a difference ceramic vs steel made. That was my first exposure to ceramic bearings.

My tried and true method is to put the end of the pen in my mouth and suck on it like a straw. It seems to pull enough ink down to get things writing smoother again.

Happy Holidays to you and your family. I think my go to pens this year have been in no particular order the Schneider slide ballpoint, the Dr. Grip Center of Gravity and the Bic Velocity 1.6mm. I don’t mess with the Uni Jetstream anymore after having issues with their pens drying up on me even though they would have half a cartridge of ink left over. That’s become annoying. But if you find one that don’t have that issue they’re awesome
@unsharpenКүн бұрын
Thanks, Happy Holidays to you too! Those are fun picks. The bic is easy to overlook but I like it a lot. And then Schneider’s are always solid. I’ve been using a Dr grip recently too - first time regularly in maybe 10 years? It’ll be in a video soon.

Regarding the Sakura 3-color, I like it: nice minimalist design and the dark green seems to capture the current trend of "off-blacks"-basically black but with some color tint added (the Pilot ILMILY Nuance being the prime example: black + 6 additional off-blacks). The grip section looks like they took a design cue from corkcicle drinkware.

I have the Inc R2 rollerball in blue and black. Bought it at a Dollar store. Interesting pen but considerable bleed through on my cheap notebook paper. I liked the color of the blue ink. Worth picking up if its at a cheap price. Amazon asking too much for it.

Good tip. I don’t have a dollar store near me but will keep an eye out

Dollar Tree is a main supplier of the Inc. brand. They carry many of their products. All for $1.25 a pack. They have gel and ballpoint, highlighters etc.

I came here looking to see if the gel ones were actually blue, as the blue ballpoint ones look too much towards the purple in my eyes. From what little I can tell from a KZbin video the gel do indeed seem more blue IMHO, and the ballpoint ones seem relatively purple, even though you say gel is "lighter" (or whatever word you used), as if it's a bad thing! I've been using (Parker branded) green and purple gel refills for the last few years to make notes, and I recently found a blue ballpoint I received as a gift and have hardly used (Jotter, Royal Blue, I like that it has no silver tip to the barrel, it looks far better I think) and was surprised that the ink (made in France, as was pen) looks almost indistinguishable (colourwise) from the purple gel on paper as it looks so purple, and it's annoying me somewhat! Interestingly, I remembered how much I love Parker pens and bought an oldish green barrel Frontier (?) on ebay to use for my green gel (to replace the cheap third party plastic barrel I've been using for years!), and the (made in USA this time!) blue ballpoint refill that came in that also looks more closer to "blue" to my eyes compared to the blue ballpoint refill that came with the newer gifted pen (as I said above, made in France). Is this due to age degrading the ink, or do the USA and France arms of Parker differ in opinion on what blue ink should look like??? For once I find myself siding with USA... 😂 Be interested in anyone's opinion on this, if you read this far!!!

I just got a kt pipe slide with the uni 0.5 HB lead and I can already say, I love every part about it. It feels so satisfying to write with and the lead feels smooth, doesn't break easily despite being extended pretty long, the "spongy feeling" when writing is barely noticeable for me but for me it's a charm I love. However, I'm hoping to upgrade to kt advance soon and it'll probably become my writing workhorse instead of ballpens. It's too cool to sleep on lol.
