Just wanted to say how much I love your adventures together and for sharing them with us!! You remind me that the world is such a beautiful place and that people can be so good and kind. I visit my 92 year-old mother each week and we watch each new video of yours together. There is a well-known book in my country by Henry David Thoreau which expresses a philosophy that the two of you seem to embody and inspires me: "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Keep on pedalling!

Hadn't thought of that quote from Thoreau in conjunction with the desire to go 'bikeabout'. Read Thoreau in College Prep. English, liked the subject, but never actively implemented the philosophy or thought of the links between mountain-biking/bikepacking and Thoreau's philosophy/impact upon my future passion (from that period of time pre. 1989 before I was bitten by the cycling/mountain-biking bug). Funny how random influences or exposure to ideas you barely think about except in passing can years later, come to haunt you (in a good way in this case..!). Might have to read Thoreau again at age fifty and see what i get out of it vs. what i didn't at age seventeen...

The Jura region is really beautiful! I have never been to that part of France - in the past I've either been in Paris or the southwest (Canal du Midi and the lower Pyrenees). Absolutely loved this video guys. Your editing is amazing :) :)! If you go to the west coast of France, maybe check out Dune du Pilat, Arcachon, and Cap Ferret. My favorite spots :D. I really love following your adventure, it reminds me of some of the moments from my trip. When Maudi fell over it reminded me of myself falling when crossing a stream in the woods. I'm not sure if I was laughing, I think I was much more grumpy as I was cold, wet, and had mud all over my bike and clothes haha! Great attitude you both. It's crazy that when we endure difficult conditions, we can be so grateful just to have a warm cup of tea in our hands and dry clothes. Makes you appreciate small things in life, and that's what it's all about, being grateful for all the beautiful things that surround us. Good luck with the trip :)! Can't wait for the next video.

To me the name Jura is that of an exquisite whiskey from the Hebridean Isles off the Scottish mainland. I also think it's the name of a wine region yes? Hope you are both well. What a lovely couple you met. My need to travel comes from having worked so many years and not gone anywhere much but a hotel kitchen cooking and eating food from many nations worldwide, much of it French or Italian. I read recipe books from everywhere and i really want to go where those dishes come from, cook and eat the food in it's home region. What's your favourite cuisine and why?

Hi Mark! I had some of that whisky myself, and entry level one and pretty tasty. I am not sure if it is a wine region. I heard Orwell wrote 1984 on the Isle of Jura. That sounds great to enjoy the food in it's original region's, perhaps make that into a KZbin channel... cooking channel combined with adventure ;) Now that is a difficult question: we have many favourite cuisine's: Indian, Japanese, Italian, Turkish... and so many more wonderful dishes from all over. Perhaps if we would have to pick it would be curries all the way. Not very healthy though with all the gravy but man so tasty ;)
