Thank you Joe Biden. This story makes me happy. I am emotional about it, because since childhood, I’ve felt horrified by the atrocities against the Native Americans. Little did I know, they are part of my family history. It was likely because of how persecuted they were. So much so that admitting your Native American roots was dangerous. My great grandmother was a full blooded Seminole princess, a tribe of Africans and Native Americans who fought side by side against capture and enslavement. I am working in the Harris campaign, and seeing this report lets me know that Joe Biden kept his promise. BW helped tremendously to get him in office. It warms my heart to see him acknowledge this community, and the atrocities committed against them. Today, let us come together to heal and transform into a country that will continue to chart a way forward that benefits us all. Sending Love and Light. #VoteKamalaHarris2024

The stark contrast between this honorable speech and apology that President Biden gave, and the bragging and self-aggrandizing ramblings that Ex-President Trump spews, is apparent, when we hear something as respectful as this Formal Apology! Thank you, President Joe Biden, for your honesty and respect to Native Americans who have been treated unfairly and inhumanely for centuries by America! You are a true American!

Thank goodness for President Biden’s compassionate leadership these past 4 years. I taught on the Navajo/Hopi reservation 30 years ago and heard firsthand accounts of the horrors of those deplorable institutions and the atrocities that went on there. They deserve whatever reparations we can offer them. No excuse for what happened to those poor children and their families.

During his presidency, Donald Trump signed several bills that aimed to support Indigenous communities, including: The Not Invisible Act (2019): This law aimed to address the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous persons by establishing a commission to improve coordination between federal, state, tribal, and local authorities. The Savanna’s Act (2020): This legislation sought to improve the response to cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women by enhancing law enforcement's coordination and data collection. The Indian Community Economic Enhancement Act (2020): This act aimed to improve economic development in Indian Country by facilitating access to resources and promoting business opportunities for Native American entrepreneurs.

@@benknown1420 There you MAGA whataboutism go. Such a lack of grace. Biden’s apology on behalf of the U.S. is huge. But since your little mind wants to go off-tangent. You can’t credit Trump because what Trump signed were work-in-progress from Obama’s administration. As are most BIA cases, with past presidents having more activity than Trump. The first thing that came to my mind when Trump started to talk about "mass deportation" was: WHERE TO? My German great-grandparents noticed that Jews vanished. They didn´t dare to ask where they´d gone to, as they would have ended up disappearing themselves. When Steven Miller started to talk about "denaturalization" of naturalized citizens remember that *all the Jewish families who lived in Germany before WWII had been German citizens for generations* . That should send shivers down every naturalized citizen´s spine. Trump and his cronies are fascists.🇺🇸💙🌊🇺🇲
