Comparatively. In full context, no, of course not. Not a single US president been even slightly anti oligarchy, democrats included. Democrats in this country aren't even leftwing, they're still just rightwing, just closer to the center. They all work for them, including Biden. Now compared to someone like Trump, who is one himself, and made up his cabinet of them, and platforms on giving Elon billions more in welfare, and tax breaks, and less regulation, less workers rights, more anti union legislation, etc.., he is. I think that's what Sanders was going for here, jut playing with the cards he's dealt seems to be a reoccurring theme. Biden was also pro worker, comparatively. He did do a lot for them, compared to past presidents. But that's just it, they didn't do jack with their time in office. And he's only making these statements now because he knows his term is over, he doesn't need their campaign money now. It's like flipping off the cops after they've already driven by, and acting like you're a badass for it. It's insulting. It bothers me more people aren't calling him out for his cowardice, and inaction, but instead praising him as if he did anything by reciting things we already know, 4 years too late for it to matter. Also kind of shocking to me so many people support feudalism again. And I've paid attention to Forbes for a long time now, I knew what to expect, I thought. @dishonoredundead25 минут бұрын
In addition to what other people said, assuming their comments remain; no one cares about millionaires. Having 60 million dollars doesn't make you an oligarch. That comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of how much money something like 450 billion dollars is. And most likely a deliberate attempt to conflate the two issues. Whether you're aware of it, or not. You'll learn fast when you get old, even a million dollars is not much to live on. Especially with a family. Whereas people like Musk have more money than entire countries, they can tank entire nations. They have so much money they literally could not spend it fast enough to get rid of it before interest and investments replaced it. And it's all money taken out of the economy, not being spent, the stuff that created America's wealth to begin with was dependent on a solid working class utilizing that money. Oligarchies are everything the Founding Fathers fought to rid us of. We left a feudal society, and now people want to go back, because they think they are going to be born a lord in the next life. Or they think the lords inherited wealth isn't a threat to freedom, or the economy, or the climate, an that is delusional. Furthermore, pretending Bernie was an oligarch, that doesn't make this hypocrisy, he's spent his life trying to achieve this, obviously he's okay that system himself. That's such an ignorant argument that I keep seeing made, and I wish to god people would understand the differences, and nuances. And I know, you'll say "well then why doesn't he donate all his wealth!!". Because he's an 80 year old man, and that would be about 1/100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 of the amount he's attempting to put back into the economy. It would accomplish absolutely nothing. And he's not even in the bracket you are misunderstanding, and defending, regardless. This is like if the owners of Chernobyl Power Plant got indignant and said "well if you care so much about the environment, then how comes you were drinking from a plastic milk carton?", while a billion people were standing in toxic, lethal, sludge. It's not the gotcha you think it is. And I have no idea why you would be against economic freedom. It's the foundation of capitalism itself, and you still rail against it. For who?

Just four companies in the U.S. control: 85% of beef processing 80% of corn seed distribution 77% of fertilizer production 69% of grocery sales 67% of pork processing 63% of wheat milling 60% of poultry processing Wondering why food prices are so high? Minimal competition in the entire food supply . This is what unregulated capitalism mixed with massive campaign donations and lobbyist's get you. And this this is just the food sector of our economy. Consolidated wealth at the expense of American's.

Yes, because "oligarchy" exactly describes what is evolving with trump and his uber-billionaire pals. It is a form of government where a small number of people control the power (as opposed to a democracy, where the majority of people share power). In such a system, average citizens are merely resources to be used or liabilities to be rejected. This should really worry a thinking citizen.

I have no problem with how billionaires make their money. The problem l have is when an individual can single handedly greatly influence the outcome of an election. That l believe is a serious threat to democracy. What l find grotesque is that people like Musk and Zuckerberg barely pay any taxes

Wrote a paper for a college history course thirty years ago positing and arguing, I thought persuasively, this very premise. In fact, the title of the paper was: "Do We Live in a Constitutional Federal Republic or in a Plutocratic Oligarchic Kleptocracy". Later, the professor specifically told me that he felt obliged to de-grade the paper from "A" to "B" because, as he put it, "Though undeniably well-written, I'm afraid this isn't an English class; but more to the point, its central thesis is clearly untenable and on its face absurd".

We all know that CEO's make too much money not in salary but bonuses which are larger than salaries. That is where the problem is, somehow that has to be regulated. What Bernie has not researched is every time there is a raise in minimum wages, the prices of everything we buy and I mean everything goes up by 34%. This research was done by universities. So raising minimum wages defeats the purpose. There is no way to control prices, because businesses will shut down. The problems are the CEO's of top companies. Something has to be done there. Congress will not address that, because a lot of their Re-election funds come from there.
