You rightly said that the TRAJECTORY is specifically used in war related context. In other context, i would rather go for COURSE OR TACK OR DIRECTION. What do you suggest?

I see that you skipped the subjonctive in Biden's statement. As you may know it, we French use the subjonctive tense a lot, so I'm always tempted to say things like : it's important that she do what I want, it's important that she go to the doctor etc... but it sounds weird in English
