Biden pledges to support Ukraine 'for as long as it takes' on surprise visit

President Biden spent 10 hours taking a train to Kyiv to underline his message that the US will stand by Ukraine “for as long as it takes”.

What the narrator of this lil clip should have realized by now (as is affirmed by many sources), is that although the USA hasn't sent the most long range capabilities it can, it IS, by far, the largest contributor of Ammunition for All the NATO weapon systems the Ukrainian army now employs. And as each package arrives with slightly better weapons, So does all the thousands of artillery shells, hundreds of missiles, and millions of bullets for them. That's something Putin is slow to deliver to his "meat grinder" conscripts.

For them Ukraine is where? Then among the rest, it is split between more right leaning authoritarian minded types (type 2) who have admiration for strongman politics and the liberal types (type 3) who look at this as battle between Western liberal democracies and the authoritarian tendencies. And some are simply because of loyalty to Russia and the Soviet Union and because the US played hot and cold with India during the Cold War and the Soviet Union supported India (type4), some anti US/Western (type 5) and others who say India should stay out of the power games and do what’s right for India. The pragmatists. Type 6. So complex issue in India too. I would imagine it is the same in the US too but different mix of populations. Including the anti western (self loathing types).

We have near record levels of employment, more jobs than we can fill, better salaries than in most developed countries, and, where I live, we never stop building infrastructure: bridges on top of bridges; suspended highways build over surface highways; stadiums for high schools that rival those of European sports teams. I'm not saying all of those things are necessarily good, specifically for the environment, but the economy is strong regardless of how much we complain. We complain constantly because we always want it to be better.

Those are FBI national figures. 9,000 in a country of 320 million citizens who are free enough to buy firearms which rival anything the police carry. That equates to a remarkably free and peaceful society when viewed in proper context. The bigger number you quoted, which I usually hear as being 30,000-35,000 includes suicides by firearms, by far the greatest number of firearm-related deaths. Nevertheless, our suicide rate is no higher and often significantly lower than many developed countries. So there you go.

I'm not happy about the US having to give Ukraine billions and billions of aid, but I know that it has to be done. When Ukraine gave up their nuclear capabilities we guaranteed Ukraine securities. I'm just glad that the US has stepped up and did what they said they would do.
