We have had “alternate truth”, echo chambers and DELUSION via POLITICS (who is in power), tribalism and religion for as long as we’ve survived using the community around us ( other humans) as a support system. Humans in general have MAIN CHARACTER SYNDROME. We think the universe is all about US. It’s a survival strategy. I grew up in the Patriarchal/Mormon/CONSERVATIVE religion. (Also MAGA, this was a recent development since TRUMP was elected…) I used logic everywhere EXCEPT my religious beliefs. When I challenged those beliefs 25yrs ago, I was ostracized from my COMMUNITY/SUPPORT SYSTEM and that really hurt me ECONOMICALLY and MENTALLY. But in the end I choose REAL EVIDENCE instead of my FEELINGS and LOGICAL FALLACIES. (That was a learning curve!!!!) I learned logical fallacies, how I was SPECIAL PLEADING (a LOGICAL FALLACY) for my Mormon belief system. But expected everyone else including scientists to PROVE their beliefs. In a VERY large Mormon/Patriarchal and MAGA family and community, I am the ONLY push back with reason and logic toward those delusional beliefs. .. I WAS able to find SOME community on FB and YOU TUBE back then. My own children turned against me. Only ONE of my daughters has finally also come out of those beliefs (religious AND POLITICAL ) …. (not because of me, but because of SOCIAL MEDIA! , she doesn’t listen to anything I say, I’m her MOM haha) .. . And I am the only one in the family as a support system for her. That makes two of us now, ( her little brother is coming along 😃) It’s very hard but now we have each other. This happens in all communities/POLITICAL GROUPS/religions, not just Mormons. While social media/internet/algorithm causes echo chambers, thanks to the INTERNET (and MATT DILLIHUNTY, MIDAS TOUCH, MSNBC etc .. . just a few who have helped me .. . ) WE are cracking those hard shelled communities and personal delusions we ALL HAVE. A community will make you feel SPECIAL and in return they will give you rules and expect loyalty which will benefit THAT community (for example: the PATRIARCHY or TRUMP) but does NOT benefit society at large OR the vulnerable. It causes WARS between religious groups/POLITICAL tribes. I think humans are going to more and more choose REAL EVIDENCE over tribal loyalty because THERE ARE SOLUTIONS for EVERYONE, including the VULNERABLE AMONG US not just the a RULER(S) of the tribe ( the RICH, the MANIPULATIVE, the POWERFUL).
