The reports I read in Haaretz, MSNBC and AlJazeera said they just released over a hundred hostages during the ceasefire that included many women and children who have all said they were treated well. The only negative thing they said was that food and water was not regular or large portions which makes sense since there is a blockade of food and water to Gaza. The hostages released by Israel on the other included women and children and they all said they were beaten regularly and sometimes tear gassed.

There was an admission by an Israeli journalist on television that the women held back by Hamas are regular military members and that is why they were not released presumably because they have higher prisoner exchange value. The children being held are those of these women. The journalist tried to retract her story but it was too late.

@Breaking Points, the reason the deal did not go through to release the israeli woman, is because they are IDF soldiers based on what Israel Channel 13 mentioned, meaning they did want to release them only in a military deal, not as civilians. Please do your due diligence, but the video was on an interview in Israel channel 13 in Hebrew.

None of the women released said they were abused by hamas. On the contrary we saw a lot of them saluting hamas fighter after their release. Hamas said the remaining women are soldiers so that mean a new set of conditions for their release. All civilian hostages have been freed. The ones remaining are active duty soldiers or reservists. Hamas says soldiers can only be exchanged after a permanent ceasefire. The US and israel don't want a ceasefire so they have to lie to their publics.

Aren't the hostages they're still holding mostly members or former members of the IDF? I thought that's why they were still being held as "higher value" hostages.

My understanding is that the women they continue to hold are IDF soldiers and the price for their return is different than one negotiated for civilian women and children.

You'r correct. They stated that they released the civilians but that they'll only release millitary members in exchange for the release of all the prisoners that Israel has (which you could say those are hostages too since about 80% are imprisoned for years with no charges or things as small as criticizing the Israel occupation or throwing rocks at Israeli tanks, many of them being children, women and elderly)
