I would avoid index funds, mutual funds, and specific stocks for the time being. Right now, the best option is a fixed income of five percent. Put money aside for the times when the market really starts to bounce back.

I see the rising interest rate as a very big problem, as more investors will definitely pull out more money from the Stock market. This might have worked when I was still invest-ing with a couple thousand dollars, but it is more difficult now to decide whether to pull out more than $365k from my port-folio. I think the whole thing about holding stocks for long term will always apply. So I think you should get a quality broker who is able to analyze and pick stocks that will do well in the long term, else you will be in a long bear ride.

Owner of a 'paid off' house here. My power bill, water bill, and internet bill every month cost less than my property taxes. I literally have to spend more money per month keeping the government from stealing my house, making me homeless, and losing everything I own.... than i do actually running my house. And the local school system that gets almost 70% of that stolen money has less than 8% success rate of students graduation ready for a job or 101 freshman classes in college.

Here’s the threat: the left functions by slowly greasing the wheels of ‘normalcy’ in the direction of perversion. 20 years ago, if I told you it would be controversial to suggest men should not compete in women’s sports, you would have thought it was a Saturday Night Live skit. If I told you 20 years ago that saying a biological male, can, through gender fluidity, self proclaim to be a female, you would have laughed it off. Now they are proposing an unrealized gains tax as a means test. Not because it will pass now, but to lube up your butthole for the insertion 10 to 20 years from now. The same way they have started means testing the notion of seizing ‘retirement’ accounts. Sound crazy? Check back in 20 years.

How is it even a "gain" when by the government's own admission (CPI, PPI lies), the currency in which the gain is denominated, namely USD, has experienced capital loss (of purchasing power)? Shouldn't capital gains be inflation adjusted? So the government taxes us twice -- once by currency devaluation via inflation, and again via capital gains! Ridiculous.

Obviously, if they were to try and operationalize the law what will happen is that gold dealers would be required to report to whom they sell their gold and in what quantity to the IRS, similar to requirements to banks, etc.
