Another exceptional review! It’s quite a treat to have someone who has tried most if not all of the best kites in the market right now and is able to eloquently describe their differences and similarities!! I can totally see how the reviews are getting better with time as you have more references and can easily adapt to new kites. Thank you for all your work, I am sure these take a long time to make.

Another amazing review! I won’t buy another tube kite until I see one of your reviews. I have 2 light wind Aluula OR Flites that are the best light wind kites I’ve ever owned. Once you go Aluula, it’s hard to go back to Dacron. They’re just too expensive. We need it produced in economies of scale to lower the price. I’m looking forward to seeing your review of the new d-lab Rebel. It looks like they finally figured out the stitching issue. And 10psi! I’m sure the next version of the d-lab EVO will be impressive! I was impressed with your review of the Slingshot Code NXT, and would consider that for purchase as well. I look forward to your year end review! I’m not sure if you reviewed the new North ‘25 Orbits yet. Cheers!

Need help trying to decide from harlem thrive and evo dlab in the 12m size. Picking from better hangtime higher jumps and the dlab which helps for board off variations and the wind range on the dlab seems incredible. On the other hand the thrive is faster and maybe could practice kitwloops tricks on it which I've never really tried on a 12m but not sure if I could really get into it on a 12 but u said it's that good for loops. Hi Jason, great review. I have watched quite a few of your reviews, and find them very good. I am missing one thing though. I think you should throw some graphics over the video with stats, particularly when you do comparative analysis, alternatively in a closeout comment. This was missed in your board comparison video and your 2 part big air kite review, where it became a bit difficult to find the red thread. Those two videos, also imo belonged together in one video (even if that would make it a long one. An idea could be to make a scoring matrix, and update it at the end of the video, with the latest reviewed kite... What do you think?
@jasonofmontreal
@jasonofmontreal Ай бұрын
Great suggestions, thanks. Because the first video I did was just for fun, I came up with the basic scoring system I still use, and each season I sort of look at it like you can take a point or a half point off the last years... so basically all the scores need a refreshing at some point... but... I am not exactly so good with video editing and graphics as you can see already, and these videos take me a really long time already given it's a hobby I don't get paid for, which is why I haven't done anything to update the system... I was planning to update the ratings somehow, and do a year end summary with my end of year video if I can find the time, so hopefully something better coming soon!

I don´t know if you´re going to read this or not, but I´ll give it a try anyways. I wanted to ask you on how to jump higher and your view on the several factors. I´ve been stuck at a max of 15m with my normal Orbit. But I´ve worked my technique, worked on the take-off, worked on the drive towards the take-off, worked my legs. Once I´ve gotten my Thrives something made me go to 18m and since then when I´m out I can go for 15m jumps regularily and not every blue moon anymore. But I fear that this effect is coming from the kite and not my own progression. I know the Thrive is super user friendly, it makes things easier, at least for me. It provides the confidence to push yourself. Maybe this ease of use gives my technique enough space to take a bigger effect. Sadly kickers are no option here and come by only every once in a year. So take-offs have to be in the flat. From video footage I can see areas of improvement, I see things I can work on the pre take-off, the take-off, the kite steering. But they look minor. I cannot identify something big, something that directly gives you 25% more height. I don´t want to believe that going from my 18m to 30m is the last 5% of improvement. I´ve also found that stronger winds with bigger kites doesn´t necessarily mean greater heights. Some people (not to say kids ...) seem to do things naturally perfect. I don´t mind working on things, but due to the lack of detailed information available on this it feels like throwing things on the wall and see what sticks. The systematic approach seems to be missing here and most people I ask just answer with: "I just do it. I don´t know." Could you maybe make a video regarding your own experience on how to get, let´s say from 10m to 20m or even higher? Thanks in advance for at least (hopefully) reading this :) PS: Maybe I just need to finally get a North Atmos ...
@jasonofmontreal
@jasonofmontreal Ай бұрын
@@Alexomator the reality is you can only improve as much as the conditions allow it… so first off it would help to know what kind of winds you ride in, and are there many other local riders going a lot higher? Also, have you watched content from ‘get high with Mike’ on jumping higher? That’s another great resource…
@Alexomator
@Alexomator Ай бұрын
@@jasonofmontreal I´ve watched Mikes content and other great sources like Alex from Kitesurf College or Steven Akkersdijk. Yet this seems to mostly cover up the up to 10m stuff, followed by: for greater heights, you need greater winds and smaller kites. And that´s it xD Two days ago I´ve been out to 30 knots gusting 40. Checking Surfr for this quite well known spot (Kegnaes Drejet) for the day I was #1, but I´m well aware that most people around here still use Woo and had at least two guys putting up the same heights as I do. There is this kid around here, Noah, that day he was out on his 6 Pace, I was on my 8 Thrive. Okay, I´m a fun sized chunky piece of person and far off from being 16 again. I was going higher then he was on that day. But on other days he gets out, puts in 25m+ and I have no clue how he does that. There are some other guys around doing stuff like this too. Some session, out of nowhere ... 20m+ and I´m just confussed, because I fail to do the same without knowing the reasons behind. Maybe I cannot harness sufficient power of the kite before take-off. Maybe I don´t get the lucky gust. I´m quite well aware that there is no wonder potion that will heal it all but there must be something more then: don´t loose your line tension when riding in, carve and jump into the wind, take-off when kite is before 12, bigger winds make you go higher.

Thanks for the review. The big question is... How does it sound? Many people describe it as a helicopter sound.

As progressive rider in looping the thrive 9m gave me confidence to loop it blindly in light wind - it catches you all the times even in 3/4m and facilitate the trust building getting higher. Very nice feed back!

Good review but i think u are in a wrong on the end when u talk about 40 50 knots and 9m kite..i know u can handle it but simply 9m cant work properly in that much wind.. alula kites can hold its shape longer but still if u doing review in 40+ knots then u could take 7 or 8m kites and saving instabilitiy of the kite..i belive u know this but u didnt mention..but yeah its a 3 strut kite without alula..i expect it wont be that stiff Ps: im riding duotone not harlem:D

@@jasonofmontreal you did but you said it was 40 knots so i think 9m kites doesnt work properly anymore in 40kt specialy 3 strut non alula kites..so u said that the kite loosens its shape (and i think its normal for 9m and 40kt) but u could mentioned that it was mybe too much wind for 9m and thatwith 8m or 7m u probably wont have this problem..just my opinion and im not defending harlem kites but i still understood this comment as a weak point of harlem

@@LukaPlest I think you've misunderstood me. I wasn't riding the 9 in constant 40 knots, but the wind range was getting up to 40 knots or so.

I like your reviews of all kites but it makes me wonder about the. brain child kites. is it the the pro welding. or just the design of the kites. there is no comparison between them. welded vs stitching. . I mean Ralf is a great designer in an interview he once said that the welding. proces at duotone was already there. but. it had no benefits. over sticking (podcast with intriguing beings )
