Man, that intro was a marathon, but totally worth the wait! The breakdown of those kite loops was spot-on. Loved how you emphasized risk as a key factor-it really should be! You see it more now with riders looping the kite super high (boring). It’s a long vid, but trust me, the analysis makes it worth every second. Keep it coming

Hey Marian, thanks for the insightful video! Unfortunately the 9.27 socring trick for Jeremy was not the one in the GKA highlights recap. It was a 23.9m high doobie boardspin (check GKA Gran Canaria Day 2 - Minute 8:21:41 for the trick). I remember as I was one of the judges who scored it ;). For the criteria stated at the beginning of the event (hight > amplitude > technical difficulty) this was rewarded a 9.27

Very interesting breakdown... and I tend to agree with most of your comments. One thing I can add that to me explains a lot of the inconsistency in judging is that when it's live in front of you, it's all happening pretty fast and furious... The few times I have been to KOTA I have in some heats gotten swept up by the action, the stakes and the energy in the heats that I think one rider did better than say another, and only when I see the replay on a screen later on that I think I was a bit off on my initial assessments, usually because when you see the reply you can get a better idea of kite angles or trick height by slowing down or replaying each trick (with such a huge box to ride in, depending where you are tricks and kite angle looks wildly different). With Red Bull events, I think this actually adds a little bit of an argument for where impression score can help balance the equation, but at the same time it often muddies the water too if the judges don't share your opinions...

but when talking about the risk factor, i think you should reward those extra rotations with the board in one hand. I never did such thing but i know how scary even a single LateBack can be because your back is facing the kite at some point and youre getting confused with steering your kite. And they spin themselfs and the boards in like 20m height with only one hand on the bar, even if the kite is already climbing up again, there is a big risk in not oversteering it i think.

How can that first one score the highest,the loop is so high in the wind window and late in the jump it was basically a down loop not a contra loop

@@janvanbunningen6468 loops after the apex are essentially heli/down loops, should not count in big air comps or automatically score 3 points less
