You mention the tramontina machete so much! Can't believe you praise this one out of all the cold steel and condor machetes out there that also have very low costs. BUT, seeing this video of it splitting firewood, I think i'm sold. A lot of my machete's would bend and warp at the top where i was batoning. Look's like i am going to pick up one of those. Thanks for the review guys.

Try using the choil on that Tahoma field knife to strike your ferro rod. I bet you'll like the results. It works kinda like a custom knife of mine that has a round groove in the spine for striking a ferro rod. I think you've done a review on something similar to that.

@dwightehowell81794 жыл бұрын
You can make feather sticks and notches with any sharp folder. Batoning and prizing is the joint and blade killer. This folding knife could be uses to split off thin slivers of wood, I would think. I'm not doing that with smaller knives with weaker joints. This group of knives have some of the strongest joints made. I think cold steel bought the patent on it. It is what it is. I'm going to note that the old times were used to bragging about being able spend a week in the woods with nothing but the contents of their pockets which included a fire starter kit, a fishing kit, and good sharp two or three bladed folder and come out stinky but fine. Very few moderns are actually skilled woodsmen.

When splitting, little tip...aim for the bottom of the stump, not the top of the log you're trying to split. Also, bend the knees on the downstroke. If you miss the stump, you still get to keep your leg. :-)

Hey man love your vids a lot I really think Jessica 2 should go in the red rhino customs sheath that would be as badass as it gets especially because between Jessica 3 and Jess 2 there were no differences like the thumb ramp being taken off, aside from the duracoat, if the duracoat wouldn't interfere with the kydex's fit on the knife Jessica 2 and the red rhino custom sheath would go great together, keep up the good work also would like to see some gun reviews on the guns themselves sort of like your video of the ak/ar mutant and speaking of that video that .44 desert eagle was kickass man 👍 love your shit keep it up

Interesting "WAR HAWK" design! You've re-created, with some modifications a Slavic Carpathian peasant axe. The channel Skallagrim tested it out on a ZGB Ivan head with devastating results! It goes by different names in different countries; the Valaska or the Ciupaga in Polish; it was a multi-purpose tool: weapon, livestock butchering, walking stick (as the top of the blade was often flat) and...oh yeah, chopping wood!! Not to mention a prop in some risky men's folk dances!

Instead of the Becker BK7 I now use a Cold Steel Recon Scout in O1 steel. It took some getting used to, but honestly I love this blade more than any other. I use it for everything, and with a .3125 inch thick blade (5/16 in.) it really can be used for everything. If you're looking for a heavy duty knife to use in place of a Becker or other larger fixed blade, get the CS Recon Scout. The grip is truly a grip, and it seems to grab onto my hand itself. The only drawback is the price, which is much higher than the BK7's. However, along with the excellent knife comes with an excellent stock sheath, Cold Steel's popular Secure-Ex™. So, there's no need to buy a custom Kydex or leather sheath.

really like the vids, been watching for a few weeks. I hope to eventually get a two-hander machete. My opinion on folders; I don't waste my time. Folders can rarely take much abuse. the main EDC I wear on my belt is a Ridgerunner 2". No it is NOT a great knife. The reason I have it; *tiny & unnoticeable, *I have abused it a lot (if it breaks I may get another) *The rare thrower that has stood the test.
